Alright, why not another? Pickersgill-Cunliffe (talk) 12:56, 3 August 2023 (UTC)
Prelim
edit- Midtown Manhattan, Grand Central Terminal, New York Biltmore Hotel, United Hotels Company of America, New York City Hall, Theodore Roosevelt, Debenture, and Foreclosure are duplicated links
- Removed all, plus Barclay Hotel (New York City), which had both a direct link and a redirect. Epicgenius (talk) 14:26, 7 August 2023 (UTC)

Lede and infobox
edit- "The hotel was mostly constructed above Grand Central Terminal's railroad tracks, so different sets of columns were used for the lower and upper stories." I really can't parse from the lede what makes it obvious that being built above a railroad means there are different sets of columns, or what these columns even are
- These are typical support columns within the interiors of buildings. Since the tracks are built above railroad switches, the columns on the lower stories have to be arranged to avoid hitting railroad tracks, which meant the columns could not be placed in a grid (separated from each other at regular intervals). This wasn't a problem for the upper stories, so the columns were placed at regular intervals. Anyway, I've changed the sentence to "The hotel was mostly constructed above Grand Central Terminal's railroad tracks, and different structural frameworks were used in the lower and upper stories." - Link asylum seekers
- PIA doesn't need a citation in the infobox
- Removed. Epicgenius (talk) 14:26, 7 August 2023 (UTC)
- Aimbridge Hospitality is not cited anywhere
- Removed. They were the former operator of the hotel when it was still open to tourists. Epicgenius (talk) 14:26, 7 August 2023 (UTC)
Site
edit- Link 45th Street
- Done. Epicgenius (talk) 14:26, 7 August 2023 (UTC)
- For the non-Americans among us, do you think you could add that these railroad tracks are underground?
- Done. Epicgenius (talk) 14:26, 7 August 2023 (UTC)
Architecture
edit- Either include the "& Son" in the George B. Post or don't; you switch between the two styles in lede/main text
- I included "& Son" consistently. Epicgenius (talk) 14:26, 7 August 2023 (UTC)
- Link mezzanines
- Link Belgian marble
- Done both. Epicgenius (talk) 14:26, 7 August 2023 (UTC)
- "The main entrance to the hotel was originally on 45th Street" could you note in this section where it had moved to?
- The main entrance was still on 45th Street when the hotel closed to tourists in 2020. I think this is the entrance used by migrants. Epicgenius (talk) 14:26, 7 August 2023 (UTC)
- "exhausts"?
- In this case, "exhaust" is an uncountable noun. Epicgenius (talk) 14:26, 7 August 2023 (UTC)
- "in the second basement"?
- Fixed. Epicgenius (talk) 14:26, 7 August 2023 (UTC)
- What's a second officer?
- I clarified a bit. Epicgenius (talk) 14:26, 7 August 2023 (UTC)
- Link vestibule
- Link pilaster
- John Alden should be linked at first mention
- Done all of these. Epicgenius (talk) 14:26, 7 August 2023 (UTC)
- Is the John Alden breakfast room different to the earlier mentioned John Alden lounge?
- Link dumbwaiter
- Done. Epicgenius (talk) 14:26, 7 August 2023 (UTC)
- Is the "in-house doctor" from the lede actually explicitly mentioned?
- I've explicitly mentioned it now. Epicgenius (talk) 14:26, 7 August 2023 (UTC)
- "As built, the upper floors contained..." which are the upper floors for this purpose? Was it four royal suites altogether or each?
- There were four altogether on the topmost floors (the sources don't say which floors exactly). Epicgenius (talk) 14:26, 7 August 2023 (UTC)
- Where was the Presidential Suite?
- Strangely, none of the sources I've looked at specify where the Presidential Suite was. I assume it was on the top floor, which is the only place where they would be able to fit a terrace. Epicgenius (talk) 14:26, 7 August 2023 (UTC)
History
edit- "underground Streets" meant to be a capital?
- The source doesn't seem to give a capital. I assume this was an OCR error. Epicgenius (talk) 14:26, 7 August 2023 (UTC)
- Commodore link should be moved to first mention
- Done. Epicgenius (talk) 14:26, 7 August 2023 (UTC)
- Choose whether to use "$3.5 million" or "$3,500,000", but don't use both styles
- Fixed. Epicgenius (talk) 14:26, 7 August 2023 (UTC)
- Worth mentioning where the Tiffany Studios were/why construction could only begin once they were demolished?
- I added where the studios were. The studios had to be demolished because the hotel was supposed to take up the entire block and would not be built around any existing structures. The foundations were also built simultaneously, so I've added that. Epicgenius (talk) 14:26, 7 August 2023 (UTC)
- Mention the connection between New York United Hotels Inc. and United Hotels Company of America
- Done (New York United Hotels was a subsidiary ofUnited Hotels Company of America). Epicgenius (talk) 14:26, 7 August 2023 (UTC)
- Who has the lease, New York State Realty and Terminal Company or New York Central Railroad?
- The New York State Realty and Terminal Company held the lease, while New York Central was the landowner. When Roosevelt Hotels Inc. made the purchase offer in March 1934, the owner (NY Central) had placed a mortgage on the property; the leaseholder had to pay that mortgage. Epicgenius (talk) 14:26, 7 August 2023 (UTC)
- What's the Rib Room? It hasn't been mentioned before
- This was a brand-new luncheon room, so I changed "reopened" to "opened". Epicgenius (talk) 14:26, 7 August 2023 (UTC)
- "taking over the hotel to Realty Hotels" Honestly not quite sure about this entire sentence, but this bit in particular doesn't seem to work
- I was missing a few words. The railroad wanted to lease the hotel to Realty Hotels. Epicgenius (talk) 14:26, 7 August 2023 (UTC)
- "The hotel's Colonial Room nightclub" I thought it was a breakfast room?
- Oops. I've fixed this now. Epicgenius (talk) 14:26, 7 August 2023 (UTC)
- "that were renovated"
- Fixed. Epicgenius (talk) 14:26, 7 August 2023 (UTC)
- "June 1997" repeated year
- Removed. Epicgenius (talk) 14:26, 7 August 2023 (UTC)
- Is Mad46 on the 19th floor or the roof? You say both
- It was on the 19th floor, which has a rooftop terrace, so technically both. I've changed to "19th floor" for clarity. Epicgenius (talk) 14:26, 7 August 2023 (UTC)
- "July 2020", "September 2020", "August 2022", "May 15, 2023" repeated years
- Fixed. Epicgenius (talk) 14:26, 7 August 2023 (UTC)
- "buy a 25 percent stake
in the hotel."- Fixed. Epicgenius (talk) 14:26, 7 August 2023 (UTC)
Notable guests and events
edit- Is the George Polk Memorial Award the George Polk Awards?
- "The hotel also contained the national campaign offices of numerous Republican U.S. presidential candidates" Awkwardly worded considering you've already spent half a paragraph describing one of these campaigns
- I've moved that sentence up. Epicgenius (talk) 14:26, 7 August 2023 (UTC)

edit- References look good. AGF for print sources.
