Is there a more specific name for this type of eigenvalue problem where the eigenvector coefficients are not in the same basis as the operator? Plediii (talk) 14:49, 9 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

If you are referring to the operator C on the right hand side of Sx=εCx, that is called a generalized eigenvalue problem (in the linear case, at least). — Steven G. Johnson (talk) 16:24, 9 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
