Deletion, merger, or ?
editToday, User:Clab6 attempted to file an AFD (or possibly two) on this article. Given that the AFD was malformed, and that no reason was given for it, and that directly after that User:Clab6 added the {{merge}} tag to the article (which doesn't require an AFD), I've removed the notice. I don't have a strong opinion as to whether or not it should be merged—anyone else? Dori (Talk • Contribs) 05:49, 3 December 2008 (UTC)
- User:Clab6 undid my revision, but the AFD is still malformed. I added a note on his talk page explaining why I re-reverted it, why the AFD wasn't actually ever filed, and requesting that he please continue the discussion over here. Dori (Talk • Contribs) 00:35, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
merge proposal
editI don't think Roseland should be merged into Santa Rosa. Santa Rosa is incorporated, and last I checked, Roseland was outside the city limits. The U.S. Census Bureau treats Roseland as a separate place, so I think Wikipedia should also. - Stepheng3 (talk) 06:42, 3 December 2008 (UTC)
I've checked- It's in the city limits of Santa Rosa. It is a specific neighborhood of Santa Rosa, just like Downtown or Bennett Valley.Clab6 (talk) 20:59, 27 February 2009 (UTC)
What's your source? I'm looking at a AAA street map updated in 2007 that clearly shows Roseland as an unincorporated area even though it's surrounded by incorporated areas of Santa Rosa. --76.191.213.161 (talk) 21:47, 27 February 2009 (UTC) I got logged out. Sorry, that was me, --Stepheng3 (talk) 21:48, 27 February 2009 (UTC)
I have checked myself. Nowhere does it show City Limits for Roseland. IT IS A NEIGHBORHOOD OF SANTA ROSA. Clab6 (talk) 01:07, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
There are no city limits for Roseland because Roseland is not a city! It is a CDP. However, that does not make it part of the city of Santa Rosa. I think you've made a mistake. Please reconsider. Best, --Stepheng3 (talk) 02:57, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
- I would prefer to keep this a separate article and not do a merge. This area is or was a census-designated place, and so there are census stats in the page history that should be preserved.[1] If it has been annexed by Santa Rosa, we should do the same thing when Menifee, California was incorporated a few months ago: The city annexed the CDP's of Sun City, California and Quail Valley, California, and so we moved those articles to Sun City, Menifee, California and Quail Valley, Menifee, California. I can find other examples of former census-designated places in California that were done the same way. Zzyzx11 (Talk) 03:44, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
