Hello again, I noticed that you created this article. Part of one of my projects is making sure all of the halls of fame are updated on existing rodeo performer pages. I have located five halls of fame (not including the ProRodeo Hall of Fame) that Roy has been inducted into. The usual way we handle many honors is to create a separate honors section. We would probably mention just the highest honor (the ProRodeo Hall of Fame) in the introduction without a citation. See MOS:LEAD. Then in the Honors section, list all the honors chronologically in a bulleted list, with citations at the end of each honor. Here's an example of what I mean in an article I just finished: Bones.

I would be happy to do it, but I thought since I had made your acquaintance, I would give you the option. It won't hurt my feelings if you prefer to incorporate them yourself and in a different manner. By the way, I noticed the way you customized the citations after the template I used had added them in earlier articles I made edits in, and I am doing even more of that myself. The style in the Bones articles looks okay to me. Go for it. I may come by eventually to clean up some formatting if necessary, but that wouldn't be for a while as I've been swamped with new editing tasks today. Giants2008 (Talk) 00:28, 10 May 2017 (UTC)

Awards

Ok, I figured if I was going to do the Honors, I might as well do the Awards section too. That's how I discovered you've got him winning steer wrestling, when it should be steer roping.

Here's the titles he won according to the PRCA World Champions Historical List. Source is the PRCA web site. It also aligns with the Hall of Fame site. You'll see that in 1983 he won three titles, All-Around, Tie-Down Roping, and Steer Roping, not wrestling. I'll fix this along with everything else.

Here's one I just did for a bull rider. I didn't write the article initially but I am working on improving it a bit. Mostly trying to get it cited as its a popular one. Awards and Honors sections I just added is more comparable to your article than a bull. I am trying out this one without bullets to see if I like that better. Thanks for making up for my lack of knowledge in rodeo terminology. Do note that one of the mentions of steer wrestling in relation to the National Finals Rodeo did turn out to be correct per the source, which checked out when I compared it to the PRCA list. Yes, I looked at that reference, where you mention steer wrestling followed by citation #8. Aha! I looked and looked but couldn't find it. Then I accidentally realized you had to scroll somehow to see it underneath the top of the window. And it says he won the National Finals, but someone else took the World title in steer wrestling. That's not how I usually hear it described. Anyway, he did not win the PRCA Championship. I feel bad about missing this the first time around, but not quite as bad, LOL. I honestly didn't see it the first time. I don't normally use Google News Archive for a source but maybe I should. I have some older bulls I can't find sources on.

But the PRCA World Champions (Historical) list definitely does not list Roy Cooper under the Steer Wrestling championship section. I expanded only the Steer Wrestling section and did a Find on the menu, no Roy Cooper. So, no he did not win a PRCA championship in this event. I hope that is what you meant? And I hope I don't sound too brusque. I am so glad you checked what I changed. I'm really very careful when I edit. It's just a fluke that I didn't realize how that newspaper archive worked. The source mentions that Byron Walker won the PRCA steer wrestling championship in 1981, which is consistent with the PRCA list. Looking at the NFR article, it says that average event winners are determined, along with the world titles. I'd be willing to bet that this is what the source means. I think you will find this PDF very useful with all of your rodeo articles. This ProRodeo PDF can be searched. It contains all kinds of records including qualifying times, average winners, roping times, etc. "Wrangler NFR records and History" Thirty pages of goodies. [[1]] Oh, btw "everybody is doing it" is a poor reason. It's really standard industry usage to use NFR same as PRCA and PBR. When did I say everybody was doing something? It was my best guess as to what the source meant; also, the abbreviation is fine. I'll look at the PDF when I get a chance. I referring to myself, sorry. I meant when I changed the National Rodeo Finals to NFR, I said in the edit summary everybody does it. And then I was saying that was a poor reason -- on me... It's industry standard to use the acronyms is what I should have said in the first place. not "everybody does it." My bad! Sorry I didn't make that clear enough. I looked at the PDF. He was not the average winner in steer wrestling in 1981. Tom Ferguson was. I searched the Internet about an hour yesterday and an hour this morning. It's pretty hard to dig up any details about a steer wrestling title in 1981. But I did find this one post that says he was the season steer wrestling title holder in 1983. So I think he was probably the season wrestling steer title holder in 1981 too. [2]. That's all the research I'm going to put into this for now. I was only concerned with World Championships and Honors to begin with. I was happy to help to try to figure this out, and I think I've reached the limit of what I can do. Now that things have settled down for me elsewhere, I found some time to return here. Since the official source says he didn't win the 1981 NFR steer wrestling title, I took that out of the article. Howdy Giants2008! Just wanted to update you with the latest source I found. I did not know that the NFR Records and History guide was part of a larger document because I found it doing a search that led me to a direct link for it and it was a 2011 version so not most recent. But I just recently found some media guides for the PBR (they are hidden, you can only find them from search not from the web site) which led me to wonder if the PRCA also had one. And I searched the entire PRCA web site quite thoroughly to find one. So I was very surprised to find a media guide on the web site and it was not hidden but right there where anyone can use it. It's labeled "2016 Media Guide." It has several sections. Each section is its own PDF. One section, as you are probably guessing, is the NFR Records and History guide. The guide is the 2016 version. I'm sure that you, like me, would love to have a more recent version. And there are also many other interesting documents here. National Finals Steer Roping

There is some information about it in the PDF - at the very end - [4].

Here at this link it shows that the finals are held Nov.2-3, 2018 at the Kansas Star Arena. (Not Las Vegas) [5]. This page more active once the finals start.

One other thing: depending on when the finals took place, it could be at different locations, in present time, Kansas. Back in 2010: here [7] Oklahoma. Both the NFR and the NFSR have moved around. There is a history of where the NFR has been held from start to finish in its article. However, the NSFR doesn't have an article (I have marked it down on my list of articles needed) and there is no history of where it has been held from start to finish). Although this article I linked does give a good history from 1984 to 2010. Also, on the sponsor name, we leave off the Wrangler from in front of the NFR and the Clem McSpadden from the NFSR. The names are fully meaningful without the sponsor names, which change from time to time. And we don't have to do search and replace for the sponsor name in articles when they change. I wanted to add that there is a location in the media guide that documents where all of the events have taken place over the years. Not all of the events have always taken place together. Of course the steer roping was always separate. But there was a time when the team roping and barrel racing were separate as well. In the Wrangler NFR chapter of the 2017 Media Guide, there is a page where all of the locations are documented from start to finish. This could be useful to use until I update things. I am going to update the National Finals Rodeo article if it needs it and write an article for the National Finals Steer Roping. I'll let you know when these are done. My intentions are to be helpful and not to apply any pressure on anything. Supplying locations of finals in articles is strictly up to you.

Giants2008 thanks for catching that hall of fame page was Hall of Fame Candidates not 2019 Inductees. Son of a gun....not an excuse but sometimes when you spend all day looking at those pages....at least I didn't get to any of the others in that list yet.
