Create fire

edit

How does he create fire if he has nothing to combust?--Herb-Sewell 19:52, 26 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

According to the anime, he changes the oxygen density in the air using alchemy and then creates a spark. Doesn't it already say this in the article? Oxygen is flamable, you know :-/
--Wikivader 21:42, 21 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
No, it's not. Oxygen is not flammable because it is not a fuel. A flame is created when a fuel is oxidized. Oxygen, by itself, cannot burn.--Herb-Sewell (talk) 08:19, 8 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
This article also proposes that he is splitting the water molecules present in the air and burning the hydrogen. The fact that the energy released should equal the energy required makes that somewhat questionable, but I suppose it makes more sense than burning oxygen. I would think the burning oxygen explanation should be removed, but if the anime uses that as an explanation then I don't know. 149.159.101.89 (talk) 05:43, 27 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
The manga states that his alchemy functions by splitting water atoms and burning the hydrogen, presumably with energy from his body, as seems to be implied in most alchemy. The anime, however, does state oxygen, though it is incorrect. I would go with the manga explination because it makes more sense and was written by the original creator. Roy Mustang's Japanese name

edit

What is Roy Mustang's Japanese name? Kid Sonic

Roy Mustang. Of course, they pronounce it slightly differently in the Japanese version of the anime... but except for pronunciation and a few spelling changes, all of the character names should be the same in both versions. They use European names like Edward and Alphonse for the characters because Amestris is supposed to be much like early 20th century Europe. --Wikivader 21:42, 21 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Editted first appearance from episode 5 to episode 1; he's in the first episode of the anime, though without dialogue, standing in the rain during the opening flashback. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 202.237.6.251 (talk) 10:56, 26 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

age

edit

But what age is roy ??

In the manga, it says that he is 29 years old.--Lilith Luisa 22:32, 3 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

who dose not love roy mustang? no one hates him we love him so

He has since turned 30, as that is his age in the Perfect Guidebook 2. 75.118.155.99 (talk) 01:01, 28 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

I think the information about his birth date as being September 25th, 1886 at his article are false. There's no such statement on the Perfect GuideBook 2. In fact, in that same book, the timeline states both Roy and Hughes were born on 1885, not 86. Could someone confirm that??

Relationships section.

edit

I don't know the exact rules regarding information on couplings involving fictional characters(on Wikipedia), but the relationships section of this article seems to contain a lot of fan speculation, and seems to be written in a manner that advertises the pairing. Should this section be rewritten?

I cleaned it up a bit to be more broad, offer non-romantic speculations, and a reference to compare his relationships with other characters in the series. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.32.255.28 (talk) 23:42, 19 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Please stop editting this section into a RoyAi advertisement. I have changed the relationships section to offer no particular nonexplicit romantic slantings and to show relationships with the other crew members as well. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 202.237.6.251 (talk) 11:46, 12 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Removed line stating that anime and manga hinted at love between he and Hawkeye. Again, please stop attempting to push fanon and speculation within the article. -- 202.237.6.251 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 202.237.6.251 (talk) 12:59, 22 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Re-edited to avoid bias against said romantic relationship, used the debatable term "affection", which is more or less where the relationship stands cannonically. Additionally, the reason that Roy rushed to the scene was in fact Riza and no one else, regardless of the implications of the action. 75.118.155.99 (talk) 01:21, 14 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Techniques

edit

Those techniques are not Mustang's real techniques. they come from the game Fullmetal Alchemist Dream Carnival. Please modify accordingly. 220.237.2.223 (talk) 11:02, 23 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Reception Section

edit

Pretty much the whole section is a grammar nightmare. I will make the much needed changes later unless someone else has the motivation to do so. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 107.44.124.178 (talk) 17:10, 5 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Comparison with Bradley

edit

When King Bradley was revealed to be an antagonist from the series, Arakawa wanted to mark the differences between him and Mustang as while both have subordinates, Mustang is willing to sacrifice them, unlike Bradley.

This doesn't sound right - Roy doesn't seem very willing to sacrifice his subordinates (e.g. his comments about protecting everyone), whereas Bradley seems more okay with that (e.g. how he and Pride treat the gold-toothed doctor). Morningcrow (talk) 23:46, 29 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
