Sukbin

Sukbin was a title for royal consorts, not a name. Teemeah 편지 (letter) 11:30, 30 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Korean last names, confusing ancestry text

edit

Two thoughts:

  • "Choe" used to be routinely spelled "Choi" and although AFAIK, "Choe" is more phonetically accurate these days, it's useful to have both listed somewhere in the article. I would edit it, but since I'm lacking a source for it except general knowledge of Hangul, I'd think someone else with sources would be better suited.
  • Separately, if she began her palace days as a slave, it's confusing to see her family listed as Lady this and similar, which implies noble ancestry. I don't know what the situation was, unfortunately, but if her family was retroactively ennobled as I know can happen from time to time, mentioning that with a suitable reference would make this article much clearer.
