"Gay"/ "Openly gay"

edit

This has been amended. What's the global guidance on this, please? S C Cheese (talk) 12:28, 17 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

The article has now been changed a few times.
The sources are:
2018: https://www.nowtolove.co.nz/lifestyle/career/womens-rugby-sevens-player-ruby-tui-says-sport-helped-her-overcome-a-difficult-upbringing-39115
2021: https://www.outsports.com/olympics/2021/7/31/22603480/new-zealand-rugby-gold-olympics-tokyo-ruby-tui
The later source is unequivocal. S C Cheese (talk) 12:47, 27 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
I've removed the statement She is gay because it is unsupported by the sources.
The second source you provide cites this page, which in turn cites the first source you provide, which clearly states She lives close to the Sevens training headquarters in Tauranga with Taryn, her partner of five years. She doesn't necessarily identify as gay. "It's all about love. I've had boyfriends before. You need someone to care about you. Taryn has supported me as a person and she supports my dreams.
We can't have a statement like "she is gay" when she has very clearly stated that she doesn't necessarily identify with the term. --Spekkios (talk) 00:31, 28 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
No. The part that you have quoted is from my first reference, not my second. It's from 2018 and the later reference in 2021 has no ambiguity. S C Cheese (talk) 09:27, 29 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
The second reference refers to the first reference as it's only source. It also doesn't support the statement She is gay. --Spekkios (talk) 00:24, 30 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
