Bleed or cry

edit

Tifa was refering to Sephiroth when she said that line.

How do you get that? The line occurs during a pause while Rufus's helicopter is landing outside. You can take time to talk to all the main party members. All of them have things to say. Barret says something like "He's been off somewhere else while his father was running the company". This clearly refers to Rufus. The "bleed or cry" comment - which may have been Aerith rather than Tifa - is not attributed to Sephiroth directly, and all the other characters are clearly talking about Rufus. I don't think it's a stretch to imagine she was also referring to Rufus. Kasreyn 23:04, 25 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

As Nojima said, Rufus can move around just as much as Denzel can. So that right there shows you that he can walk just fine. As for the Diamond Weapon assault, he has recovered from that, and he is ok. We have to keep in mind that Rufus can take damage beyond that of a regular human. The building took most of the impact, hence the reason it's stillstanding in the movie. So that right shows that Rufus didn't suffer as much as we all thought.

As for the walking thing, Rufus is able to walk just fine. Here's my proof. Just look at the shotgun skills he displayed in the movie. Those skills could have not been acquired by sitting in a wheelchair for two whole years. A person who can't walk, or can't walk for a while can't operate a gun like that, not to mention still be able to fire it with one hand. That does allot of recoil on the legs. So that shows me that Rufus still trained like crazy, and that shows me that he is still good on his feet.

My final point is how Rufus dodged Kadaj's blast. I'm not sure if you noticed, but that blast was faster then Tiffa's punches. If you watch that scene in slow motion, you will see Rufus squat down, then push himself of the building. So to do something at that speed shows me that his legs are just fine. As for why he is in the wheelchair in the ending, he's fatigue. I'm not sure if you noticed, but if a person who has geostigma pushes their body to far, they tend to faint, and loose the ability to stand. Just look what happened to Cloud after he fought Yazoo and Loz...he fainted and he woke up many hours later. So perhaps it was the situation the Turks and Rufus were in. He wasn't in the wheelchair because of injures, his stunt took away all of his strength.

I think he pretty much recovered from the ordeal in FF7. How could he still be injured AND have geostigma, yet dodge that blast so easily? There is no that's possible. He's recovered; it's just the geostigma that eats away at his energy. Besides, Cloud and Denzel have separate ways of dealing with their geostigma. Cloud just lives on the outskirts of Midgar and just collapse on the ground, Denzel uses his bed, and Rufus uses the wheelchair for his tiredness.

Director's Commentary states that Rufus was injured and has mostly recovered, but his legs are still a bit weak. Obviously not so weak that he can't stand up and jump out of the way, but they were still injured... Also, from Reunion Files, "The wheelchair he is in is actually a part of his ruse, but on the other hand he did sustain a lot of injuries in the game, so he's not exactly in the best of shape. - Nomura.
Just because you don't see blood and torn clothes in DC doesn't mean he didn't sustain injuries, especially considering the fact that you can't see his legs. WtW-Suzaku 16:08, 3 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Not a Shotgun

edit

The line in the opening part of the article is inaccurate as Rufus was obviously not wielding a shotgun. If that were the case he wouldn't have been able to shoot it with one hand while falling. Another factor is that he would have blown Kadaj's freaking head off at the same time. A shotgun shoots in a spray pattern not a straight shot. Anyway my point is if anyone has a point to argue this it may or may not change but I didn't want to be nit-picky about it. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by LaYF (talkcontribs) .

This is Final Fantasy; things can happen which can't happen in real life, such as using a shotgun one-handed. In the game itself, when you fight Rufus and he shoots his gun at you, his attack is called "Shotgun". "Shotgun" is clearly written on the screen when he attacks you. I could probably come up with a screenshot from the PC version if it was absolutely necessary. Also, note that a shotgun can be loaded with solid-shot, in which case it would fire a straight shot, though not with any particular accuracy. Kasreyn 22:38, 15 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
The weapon he used in Final Fantasy 7 was definitely a shotgun. The weapon he used in Advent Children was clearly not a shotgun, but some variety of pistol. It wasn't the same weapon. Schicksal 23:46, 10 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
I'd have to agree. The weapon utilized in Advent Children differed greatly in appearance to the weapon Rufus used in the original game. Not only that, the shotgun in FF7 made a distinct shotgun-like noise (and even effect), whereas the gun used in AC was most noticably making the "noise" of a pistol. For developers who prided themselves on attention to detail, I hardly think they'd attach a pistol noise to a shotgun. Though I don't blame the confusion. The pistol in AC has an awkwardly long barrel. MidnightWolf 09:26, 25 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
In the Reunion Files book, it indicates that Rufus' gun in AC is a "special model" and is "cutting-edge Shinra technology". Obviously because it's designed to "fold" open and close to keep it easily concealed. WtW-Suzaku 16:00, 3 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

THE BIT BELOW MAKES NO SENCE BECAUSE HOW IN HELLS NAME DO YOU KNOW ITS A SHOTGUN AND ANYWAY ITS A GAME
