Obio-Akpor is bounded by Port Harcourt (local government area) to the south, Oyigbo and Eleme to the east, Ikwerre and Etche to the north, and Emohua to the west. It is located between latitudes 4°45'N and 4°60'N and longitudes 6°50'E and 8°00'E. Obio-Akpor Local Government Area, with its headquarters at Rumuodumaya, is popularly known as the gateway Local Government Area due to its strategic location. It covers a landmass of approximately 311.71 square kilometers and shares boundaries with Emohua, Ikwerre, Etche, Oyigbo, Eleme, Okirika, and Port Harcourt Local Government Areas of Rivers State. It is accessible by road, sea, and air transportation. Obio/Akpor is mainly constituted by the people of Ikwerre ethnic nationality. Specifically, there are four prominent Ikwerre Kingdoms that constitute the Local Government Area: Akpor, Apara, Evo, and Rumueme Kingdoms. The area has experienced an average growth rate of 2.82%, resulting in a population of over 500,000 people as of 2004. Rumukwurushi is a community in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State. The community has been in existence even before the creation of Rivers as a state and is located twenty kilometers away from its local government headquarters. The people of Rumukwurushi primarily engage in trading, as evidenced by the presence of a large market called Oil Mill Main Market and other minor markets in the community.
