Merge From Run (Leona Lewis song) and Run (Leona Lewis single)
editThe Leona Lewis version is not being released as a single. [1] [2] [3][4] I suggest that the article on her recording is merged into this one (perhaps as part of a 'cover versions' section) as is standard with covers of songs that aren't released as singles. --Pretty Green (talk) 11:53, 19 November 2008 (UTC) It should be one document, however, it is being released on its own on desember 1st (at least in the UK, maybe not USA becuase of leona's release of 'i will be'! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.193.36.196 (talk) 12:49, 19 November 2008 (UTC)
This page should be its own page, as the song is a single in UK and Ireland and has already topped the Ireland charts, therefore it is a substantial song. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bleedingbatho (talk • contribs) 01:23, 20 November 2008 (UTC)
- There is no suggestion that it will be released in the UK and the Irish singles chart does not show it [5]. As it goes someone has merged the content anyway so I'll tentatively redirect the LL page to here. --Pretty Green (talk) 10:32, 20 November 2008 (UTC)
I think this track should be placed into a separate page because there is a lot of information to do with this song. Rayboy8 (talk) 20:32, 4 February 2009 (UTC) Rayboy8
Discussion 2
editIt seems that merge tags have been replaced onto the page without the discussion being restarted. Now that Lewis' version has been released and has charted at number 1 I think a separate article is acceptable - not necessary, perhaps, but given that there is significant text on the Lewis version (indeed more than on the original) it seems wise. I'd rather there be a discussion than people just put up ugly merge tags onto pages - so please, if you think it should be seperate/together, discuss! --Pretty Green (talk) 10:35, 8 December 2008 (UTC)
- It should go on its own page. Partly because it was released as a single and partly because the Leona fans will take over this page and start filling it with random crap like they always do (the cover article is already longer than this page).Riksweeney (talk) 10:45, 8 December 2008 (UTC)
- sorry, me was the one who created this Leona-site and absolutely not about she would deserve her own site. here was now often mentioned cover songs doesn't own their own site on wiki. but compare even please other cover song sites (in example Dylan's "Knocking on Heaven's Door" or Alphavilles "Forever Young"). Most cover-musicians were just mentioned - encyclopaedia-like correct - as adequately short suggestions. But Lewis' fans misusing this "original song site" for posting now each semi-important so called "fact", when any chart-place changes, filling the original song-site with overdimensional unfittingly details and it seems more as a big bubble of advertise as a neutrally encyclopaedia-entry. even not about her specialness i moved the advertise-datas to an own site. lewis sung just an interpretation of 'Run' and was not the creator and original-performer of this track. but the mass of her fanbase-entries acting as advertising-agencies, here on this site. I see no neutrality more. Just devoted lewis-stuff. --ElkeK (talk) 15:48, 8 December 2008 (UTC)
- This a right mess now... we appear to have two pretty much identical articles at Run (Leona Lewis cover) and Run (Leona Lewis song), and the text has now been removed from this article. I'll merge the two LL into one page, and leave as it is. --Pretty Green (talk) 09:45, 10 December 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, a mess. Shit happens. I did create just the cover-site, not the "song"-site. And I didn't know before about the 'law' covers are haven't got their own site. For this fat fault an apology. I've done it with no ill intent. To merge 2 sites to 1, how you suggested, is better than two 1:1 identical articles. Yes, you're right. Or put all the Lewis-advertise here in this Snow Patrol-site, how all LL-fans are wishing it. Then are all satisfied. Especially even her fans. To seriously editors like PrettyGreen, Riksweeney and others an apology, how I said. It was irritating by reading the Run-site here, to notice so extremely much advertise. It doesn't suiting to Wiki, rather to a LL-fanboard. And when the rules been generally handled, that covers haven't got an own site, then delete the cover-site completely. Maybe the best.--ElkeK (talk) 13:09, 10 December 2008 (UTC)
- That's OK; I don't think there's a 'law' that covers don't have their own article, it's just general convention. In this case the LL stuff is so big and distracting from the original article that I agree it shouldn't be here. --Pretty Green (talk) 13:34, 11 December 2008 (UTC)
- I say just leave it where it is now. All this moving around is ridiculous. Snow Patrol fans aren't happy with it being on the same page as theirs so just let it stay here on its own page. Adi39 (talk) 19:37, 10 December 2008 (UTC)
- The Leona version has clearly got a distinct and significant life of its own and wikipedia is probably best served by having a separate page for it linking back to the Snow Patrol page, and with a link on the Snow Patrol page to the Leona Run page. Leipzigger98 (talk) 01:25, 11 December 2008 (UTC)
Controversy
editI removed the Controversy section header from the article. There's no controversy, just the Sun and the other red tops blowing things out of proportion as always.
Lewis got her own site now for her cover song Run
editThis site was originally titled "Run (Snow Patrol song)" and not "Run by Leona Lewis". In respect to the writers of the song should please not written a mass of advertising datas about Lewis' new single.
- I removed Leona's section because it 1) has it's own page now 2) is, as always for Leona articles, excessively long.
- Thank you. Well done. Absolutely agreed. The LL-Marketing is longer written, than the originial track by SP. --ElkeK (talk) 14:59, 2 December 2008 (UTC)
- I removed Leona's section because it 1) has it's own page now 2) is, as always for Leona articles, excessively long.
Delete "Leona Lewis version" section of Run (Snow Patrol song)
editSince all of this information has been copied into its own article, there is no need for this section on this page; but User:ClueBot will not allow it... Sdw4 (talk) 18:24, 9 December 2008 (UTC)
Don't merge Leona Lewis' Run with Snow Patrol's
editThis is my opinion. Leona Lewis' "Run" is not just a cover, it's a single that become a hit! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 200.117.120.175 (talk) 15:35, 13 December 2008 (UTC)
- A hit in record chart is NOT the reason that avoid merging articles. It's mentioned a cover version in the same nl:Run (Snow Patrol) article in Dutch. I don't think there's need to separate a cover version from an original song article. --Hatto0467 (talk) 12:51, 14 December 2008 (UTC)
excatly i agree, dont split the article, go split alexandras hallelujahs . what a stupid idea —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.205.116.65 (talk) 22:26, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
Merge the articles.
editI can't think of any song (apart from "Hallelujah", where I've just made the same point) which has two versions as separate articles: cf Against All Odds (Take a Look at Me Now), Tainted Love, Fell in Love With a Girl, Mandy (song), Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds, With a Little Help from My Friends, (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction, Yesterday (song), Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down), Personal Jesus, Live and Let Die (song), All Along the Watchtower, Cum On Feel the Noize. Phew. Sceptre (talk) 17:38, 14 December 2008 (UTC)
- There is no reason for a separate article to be created. The only time that I can think of that a separate article was created was for These Boots Are Made for Walkin' (Jessica Simpson song), and that was because the song differs quite a lot from the original; even then, it was eventually merged into the original article, because articles are about songs, not singles. Both SP's version and LL's version are the same song, and therefore should be merged. SKS2K6 (talk) 22:00, 15 December 2008 (UTC)
- I think the issue that lead to the initial separation is that the info on the cover version is much longer than that about the original song, making the article appear somewhat ugly and lopisded. To be honest I don't really care either way and I'd be happy to agree to a merge if there was some sort of policy in regards to this but I'm not aware of anything that prevents it. My general view on the issue is that if a lengthy, well-sourced article can be written on a topic - which is the case with the LL song - then its probably notable enough to exist as a stand alone article. The argument that articles are about songs not singles seems a little counter-intuitive: this article exists because the song was a single. As I said, there is no policy on this so I don't see anything that prevents a separate article. --Pretty Green (talk) 09:38, 16 December 2008 (UTC)
It looks messy
editThe article looks messy now with both versions joined. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.153.1.49 (talk) 20:28, 16 December 2008 (UTC)
I think it shouldn't be merged. The info about Leona's version is even bigger than about Snow Patrol's. The page looks ridiculous. Or, should it stay merged, the article should begin with Leona and then Snow Patrol, since there's not much information about their version (even they they recorded it first). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 189.83.62.195 (talk) 04:04, 6 February 2009 (UTC)
Location of original video
editThe article states that the video of Leona's version was filmed in South Africa. It does not state where the Snow Patrol version was filmed / set - does anyone know? F W Nietzsche (talk) 13:39, 14 January 2009 (UTC)
Split of Leona Lewis cover
editThis is a very big section of this article and, to be perfectly honest, qualifies as an article in its own right. I believe this section should be split into a new article called Run (Leona Lewis cover) or something similar. I do not see why this was mered in the first place and it takes up more room than is given to the original song! Gaia Octavia Agrippa Talk | Sign 19:53, 4 February 2009 (UTC)
Don't Split
editI don't think that you should split it into another page as all cover versions stay on the page off the original song.FireFinder (talk) 17:12, 10 February 2009 (UTC)
Personal/Credits
editI don´t understand - in the Credit: You write "Songwriter".... xxx and after that.. "music by..." ... but please click on what Songwriter means... "Songwriter" means that the guy wrote words and music... so in this chase we should use the word "Lyricist" shouldn´t we? --77.118.63.164 (talk) 20:01, 3 December 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks for the notice, I'll correct it. RichV 21:39, 3 December 2009 (UTC)

2010 re-release
editHow it should go? For example, the critical reception I added is just from the 2004 versio, but there are many reviews made to Up to Now. It had its own single cover and music video. Should it be created a re-release section with its respective material, or it should be merged with all of them like in Halo? Tbhotch.™ Grammatically incorrect? Correct it!
