The first ever cover version of Run Run Run (recorded whilst the VU was still in existence) was by a Dutch band called The Riats. It came out on the Omega label in Holland in 1967. You can also hear it on the Highlights In the Lowlands compilation of rare Nederbeat on the Kick label. But this is quite hard to find too (not as hard as the 7" obv.) Might be worth a mention.
