- How unfortunate that the previous review could not be completed. I will begin my review very soon. —WP:PENGUIN · [ TALK ] 02:06, 24 November 2012 (UTC)
Source spotcheck: these comments were the result of a spotcheck of random sources. They returned somewhat worrying results, although at a quick glance, there is nothing related to close paraphrasing or copyright violations. These are mostly verifiability concerns.
- Quotations require an inline citation, for example here: "Lyrically the song explores criticism aimed at West in the past and serves as a "toast to the douchebags."
- "The controversy caused West to exile himself in Oahu, Hawaii and record his fifth studio album mostly in a reclusive nature, shying away from collaborating with artists he wasn't personally close to." – ref 5 does not say anything about the new album, and the fact that the MTV Video Music Awards controversy is what caused him to go to Hawaii is just "a rumour", per source. There's the question about Posh24.com being a reliable source too.
- "Pusha T had to record his verse several times, because West didn't think Pusha T was being mean enough for the concept of the song the first few times." – source says that he "wrote" his verse three or four times, not record it several times.
- Ref 7 seems to take me to the wrong website.
- Neither ref 10 nor 11 say that the song is trip hop.
- After the composition continues, West ends the song with a three minute inaudible outro containing a distorted West utilizing auto-tune. – ref 18 does not say anything about the outro being auto-tuned. Perhaps the suntimes.com source is a better choice?
- "the last four minutes find him humming and singing, but his voice is Auto-Tuned and distorted beyond perceptibility. What's he saying or singing?" – the second "and" should be italicized per source and MOS:QUOTE.
- "The ARIA certified the single Gold in Australia for sales surpassing 35,000." – I might be wrong, but ARIA certifications denote shipment figures, not sales figures.
- "For the first time in the show's history, the signature black instrument filled stage gave place to an all-white, backlit canvas." – I'm having trouble finding this statement in the source.
- "The film has four versions: the full-length film, a one minute-shorter clean version, the video version which is an excerpt of the film that matches the length of the song, and the extended video version which is nearly double the length of the video version." – not supported by source.
- "... followed by a slow-motion sequence where lead dancers perform solos to a vocally distorted continuation of the song." – nothing about a slow-motion sequence is given in the source.
- "The video ends with the phoenix bursting into flames with West frantically running into the forest." – not exactly supported by source. Since you are offering a plot summary, this statement may not need a source.
- Ref 51 is a dead link and should be replaced or fixed.
- Honestly I hate to be "that person" but it certainly sounds like you should just fail the article. I nominated it a lifetime ago and I simply don't have the time or interest to expend on this anymore. I've had to un-nominate several of my articles recently. Rather than continue reviewing the article, you might as well fail it at this point and save yourself the time, though I certainly thank you for your interest. - I'd thought I'd put it on hold rather than failing since you've waited this long. It's also too bad you're the only major contributor in terms of content rather than total edits, else I could have tried to get someone else to fix these issues. But oh well. If you are OK with (and even prefer) my failing this article, so I will. Don't worry about it, but if you somehow regain interest, the comments are here. —WP:PENGUIN · [ TALK ] 13:05, 25 November 2012 (UTC)
Final assessment: Failed.
