Talk:Russian hussars

Latest comment: 3 months ago by Black57horse in topic Sumsky Hussars

Why is "Hussars" capitalized in the title of this article?

edit

Shouldn't this article be moved to Russian hussars? It's not, as I understand, a proper noun, as if it were the name of a single distinct military unit, but instead it covers any hussars of Russia. If there's no comments to explain otherwise, I'll start a formal move/rename of this article. --A D Monroe III(talk) 23:12, 8 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

After a week with no objections and support stated by Buistr, I have moved the page. I'll pursue any clean-up needed. Issue resolved -- thank you. --A D Monroe III(talk) 16:42, 15 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

The articles Russian hussars and Hussar regiment are clearly WP:OVERLAPping and they are about essentially the same. These articles should be made into one. Cukrakalnis (talk) 21:16, 1 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Sumsky Hussars

edit

The article refers to this regiment as the "Sumy" Hussars. Captain V. S. Littauer, an officer of the regiment, in his autobiography Russian Hussar refers to the regiment as the Sumsky Hussars. He does not refer to the regiment, throughout its life, by any other name. I recommend that this article be changed to reflect the regiment's correct style.
