Sword and Shield
editHello Scu ba. Thanks for creating Russian irregular units in Ukraine. I noticed you had a sentence about "the Shield and Sword patriotic and veteran organization" going back to the earliest version. At that point, you sourced it to Serbia Posts (at posts.en) in footnote 9 (now visible only at internet archive; see hidden note). The citation was later removed by Paul 012 in this edit for cause, due to the unreliable website posts.en; Paul also opened a discussion at RSN here to explain further.
Since then, it has been marked {{citation needed}}, and based on Paul's RSN post, it sounds like we need to find the source where the original article can be found (possibly in Serbian, given the domain serbia.postsen.com). Maybe translating a relevant phrase out of the posten.com article back into Serbian, and then searching for that Serbian phrase might yield the original? It would help to have someone with some Serbian knowledge if you know anyone, but may be worth a try anyway. If you or anyone could help to source that, that would be helpful.
If not, we have to try to find another source. I tried without much luck. I found a lot of Sword and Shield, even a few in Russia—one was Chechen, another related to the NKVD, and I forget the third one, but none were about this org. If we can't source it, we might have to remove the sentence. A couple of key search terms may help: the Russian equivalent of Sword and Shield is "Щит і Меч" (but Russian article ru:Щит и меч is a disambig page with no relevant entries related to this topic), and the transliteration is "Shchit i mech". Both of those have results, but so far I haven't found the veteran's organization; I hope you will have better luck. Mathglot (talk) 05:36, 20 July 2024 (UTC)
- I'm sorry I can't be of more help to you, I just used the google translate feature in firefox to translate the page, I don't actually have any knowledge of serbian. Scu ba (talk) 13:42, 20 July 2024 (UTC)
