Appreciation letter to Father Edward Deng

Dear Fr. Edward Deng

We, in fact, say thank you for being somebody who determines to open a way of spiritual life for Ruweng Community, the entire Western Upper Nile State, and Sudan at large. We have seen that the change you have brought into our community will enlighten the people of Western Upper Nile State. Your mission of becoming a priest indicates to the people of Western Upper Nile State that God has opened doors for us. It has been a long story since the people of Western Upper Nile State has become existed without priest. The way of achieving priesthood in Catholic’s doctrine resembles becoming a doctor. We thank almighty God for encouraging you to become our first priest in Western Upper Nile State.

We also understand that God will inspire you to extend the gospel to the people of Western Upper Nile State. In this case, we are saying that be courageous with your faith and hopefully extending it to your people. Now, you are the light of the world, the father of the Western Upper Nile State. As we are gathering today to write you this piece of paper, we asked God in our hearts for this special event we have deserved to communicate with you through editorial charter. There is no way we can change our primitive societies into spiritual system unless we stand for change, a change that will benefit our people.

We, the people of Ruweng Community, who reside in the Diaspora, rejoice to take this opportunity to congratulate and encourage you to extend the words of God. Now, we have gradually transformed into a point of becoming a famous Community within the Western Upper Nile State. In our history, you are the only one who has become a first priest in Western Upper Nile State. We, of course, have seen amount of change in this generations of today. In the past, people of Ruweng Community have also been viewed as a lame duck because of having no stand in modern era. We have been served by others for so long, which has become an addicted cultural within our Community.

This challenge becomes extraordinary event that people of Ruweng community will never forget in their lives. This is the beginning of a new kind of society, a modern society that has emerged with a change and perspective. We are now encouraged to hear this good news about your ordination as a priest. In our Community, services such as education, priest, and leadership have been an issue. However, the corridors are now opened for whoever wants to erect the foundation of Ruweng Community. When we look into such services, the change emerges; therefore, we are happy and proud for your tremendous amazing commitment you have revealed. This is what we called a contemporary change, the event we will never forget.

In a few months passed, the Ruweng Community had complained about lack of having priest, and educated individuals who can manage to perform and give our communities credit. We are indeed surprised to new diverge era you personally brought into our Community. The Church had not been considered as a part of our traditional culture, but we accept it to be blended into our culture and social life of our people. We are really proud of you, Fr. Edward Deng, and encouraged you to make a difference within our Community. There are some platforms which the Community wants you to consider when you are going to start your work such as building Churches in all counties of Western Upper Nile State.

This will bring the number of people who can become Christians. Most of the people still worship gods of their ancestors because nobody shows them the modern way people communicate with God. We have experienced that the cathedral or Church brings development to the region. Therefore, we expect you to grow the power of God to the people of Ruweng Counties. Our main Church in the history of Church is Catholic, which had introduced by the missionaries. We finally conclude this letter by saying that your commitment is a footnote our young generation follows. We genuinely thank you and encourage you to extend the words of God your people. If you build the main Cathedral and chapels in Ruweng Counties, the people of Ruweng will change from ancestors’ way of communicating with God.

In fact, we understand that God has responded our prayers by filling you up with faith and determination to become a first priest in Ruweng Community. The era of change has come to Ruweng Community. We are sincerely glad to take this opportunity to write you this praise letter to encourage your stand and ministry. Thank you
