Removed notability tag

edit

Someone tagged this article, suggesting that the subject lacked notability. Given Bingham has been the subject of recent press coverage by Rolling Stone magazine, the Los Angeles Times, and the BBC, that would seemingly establish he's reached a sufficient level of notablity. 71.175.28.121 (talk) 14:18, 31 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

The "Personal Life" section sounds like it was lifted from his web-site's bio. It's much too informal and wordy. —Preceding unsigned comment added by AndrePeltier (talkcontribs) 02:42, 5 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Page Organization and Citation

edit

Hello fellow Wikipedians,

This article is currently rated as C, I would like to improve the rating by re-organizing the layout of the article, creating better flow, and adding more sources. Please take a moment to review any changes. If there are any objections, please let me know by notifying me on my talk page. Comment added by Lilly86 (talkcontribs) 03:44, 27 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

New messages go at the bottom of the page. dawnleelynn(talk) 23:12, 27 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
Now, as to the subject at hand, you don't have a user page or a talk page. So no one can ping you from this page or write you a message on a user talk page. However, I will add that the sections in the article currently follow the style laid out by Wikipedia's Manual of Style for biographies. More sources are always welcome, as long as they are considered reliable and are secondary or tertiary sources. Good luck! dawnleelynn(talk) 23:18, 27 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
If you are serious about obtaining the next class, which is B, read the assessment requirements on this page: [1]. Read for class B, making sure the click the button for show details. However, most people try to move right onto the GA class. However, GA class can only be claimed by going through an evaluation that is done by another user. dawnleelynn(talk) 02:55, 28 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

Issues that must be addressed before new class can be assessed

edit
  • No clear date format in references. Use the same style in all citations. (This is part of the citation format in the next item.)
  • No clear citation format. WP:CITESTYLE
  • Book references belong in a separate section titled Sources or Biography Wikipedia:Offline sources I will do one later with one of the book citations in here. I have some in articles I've written.
  • It has several dead links. See this link: [2]
  • External links - The link labeled just [9] needs a title.
  • The Lead is too long. See MOS:LEADBIO for guideline.
  • Spell out states in locations. For example, Denver, Colorado, not Denver, CO.
  • Fix error message in two citations. See red letter message in Reference section: date values in: | date = (help) (I'll fix these.)
  • Regarding the writing, it must have an encyclopedic tone. See WP:TONE and WP:PUFF for starters.
  • Some of the sections may benefit by having sub-sections (the next level down). I'm thinking Early life and Career. Another thing I was just thought of was that the article might benefits from an Honors section. Pull the honors down from the lead and other sections into an honors section which would be inserted after the Filmography section. Of course, the lead should mention a couple of the most important honors, the ones that make him notable for an article. If you put the a few honors in both places, you only have to cite them in the Honors section and not the lead. There is policy for this too. If a lead is a summary of the body with everything that it includes also in the body, you don't have to cite the content in the lead. This is easy as I have already said the lead needs to be much shorter anyway per policy.

Here's what the citation style should look like for all of the ctitations; I will help with this:

code><ref>{{Cite news|last1=Gold|first1=Scott|title=Raw and Genuine|url=http://articles.latimes.com/2008/mar/30/entertainment/ca-bingham30|website=Los Angeles Times|accessdate=November 17, 2016|date=March 30, 2008}}</ref>

There should only be one date format, American. Use the same parameter for the publisher, website. Fill in all the fields you can. The url or whole reference should not be in brackets, as some do, for this article. Sometimes a website url might go in the publisher field, but not for a news source like a magazine or newspaper.
