Why did the village re-incorporate as a city in 1942? Wasn't World War II underway at that time? Was there a village->city tax issue to be addressed with re-incorporation? Thanks. 67.86.74.107 (talk) 02:52, 3 August 2010 (UTC)

The article does not mention Rye Town Park, which is located in the City of Rye. It was chartered by New York State in 1907, and the park opened in 1909. The park is 62 acres in size - 28 acres of lawns, a pond and buildings, and 34 acres of beach and swimming areas in Long Island Sound. The park is open to the public. Parking and beach access fees are charged during the beach season from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. Seaside Johnnie's restaurant and snack bars provide dining opportunities.
