I just now added a Background and Early Life section but I've never been particularly good at doing citations. All of the information comes from Mr. Barcott's memoir "It Happened on the Way to War", so it's all valid information. Advocacy / possible "conflict of interest"-editing

I have removed most of the WP:COATRACK advocacy about his organizations. A biographical article should focus on biographical information (duh). While a short mention and a brief description of these organizations is certainly OK, excessive detail that is only loosely related to the article topic should be avoided.
