Sùßkind = Sùsskind, NOT Suezkind

Blood

Does anyone know the theories concerning the blood in the Codex Manesse picture? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Johnbod (talkcontribs) 16:57, 30 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

The codex was collated in Zurich between 1300 and 1330 and illustrated by various artists. Süßkind's picture was crafted by one of the "additional painters" in his usual manner. The "provocation" (to many, to his day) lies in the very fact that the Jewish minstrel is treated exactly like all the other poets in the collection - not in a hidden "Süßkind-code". Hmm! I hadn't thought of that. It looks like blood to me - the gestures of the other figures are rather confrontational. Johnbod (talk) 18:09, 31 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

There is an annotation to move this piece to WS. To do that we would need to confirm the translator and source of the published translation. -- billinghurst (talk) 05:06, 31 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
