Improved Feature Comparison

edit

Unfortuanately the categories from the Kantara Interop Testing are outdated, and todays deployment have different requirements, such as: - Capbability to import and export SAML Metadata (full control with endpoints, certificates etc.) - Capability to periodically consume metadata from a trusted source (SAML Metadata IOP profile) - Support for various OASIS SAML profiles - Compatibility with the Kantara SAML V2.0 Implementation Profile for Federation Interoperability

Agree with the above. All that data for Kantara is not very helpful, as not many products are members of that group, and if you go to their web page, it looks like only members can see what any of those features really mean. MeekMark (talk) 00:55, 22 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

We need to establish a consensus about the use of external links in the article. As it stands I feel that having external links scattered throughout the tables is a violation of External links policy.

I Propose that all external links in the article should be replaced with Wikilinks or left as plain text. --Mrmatiko (talk) 17:10, 10 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

I see the need to have some link to product pages, be it to either wiki articles or vendor/community pages. Not having links would break the hyperlink metaphor that is a core building block of the www. However, most products do not have wiki pages, and those which I found are not really satisfactory (but could be improved). But I wonder to what extent product are noteworthy at all, unless in a comparison table like in this article.

I Propose to keep the links in the article, either in the body or as reference for those products where notability is not given. Rhoerbe (talk) 17:55, 10 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Acronyms

edit

What are IdP, IdP, Light SP, SP Light, eGov 1.5, Attr Auth Resp., POST Bind. and other acronyms in the article? Shouldn't Wikipedia be accessible to all? Providing a link to their definition or simply defining them would help. Thanks.

The overarching term "Kantara Interoperability Testing" has a reference above. This document explains the concepts.

CAS server from Apero

edit

Is there a reason why https://www.apereo.org/projects/cas/ is not included on the list? Answer: Yes, CAS is a different protocol, the scope of this page is SAML. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rhoerbe (talkcontribs) 08:16, 7 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

Improved Table Proposal: Separate columns for Roles

edit

The current "Products that provide SAML actors" table has one column for "Roles" that can have multiple values. This makes it more difficult to sort the table if you want to look at a particular "Role."

I've mocked up a possible solution, and edited several rows to test it out; take a look at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:MeekMark/sandbox/SAML#Try_out_Roles_grid to see.

Feel free to edit it or make comments here.
