16.6 in "Sport" variant?
editI do not want to introduce inaccurate information, but it appears that in 2019 there was a variant "MCX VIRTUS SPORT" in with a 16.6 in barrel. It may be that it was produced by SIG Sauer Germany(?), [1] [2] And a number of these models appear to have been sold, but it may be that production was cut short because the German branch of sigsauer.swiss was shut down shortly after. In some places, apparently a 16.6 in variant is still on sale, but sometimes now dubbed MCX Virtus Patrol instead of "Sport"? [3][4][5] I find no evidence of a 16.6 in version existing on the US market. --dab (𒁳) 11:23, 30 November 2022 (UTC)
- from the archived pdf of the Bundeskriminalamt assessment, it is possible that they had to change the 16 in version to 16.6 in in order to comply with German legislation of what counts as a sports rifle. Maybe that's all this is, they extended the barrel by .6 in so they could sell it to German sport shooters. --dab (𒁳) 11:26, 30 November 2022 (UTC)
