Deletion

edit

Seriously, what a dick move. 30 seconds after creation of an article, the first edit of which is referenced, about the national oil company of a nation, it's dominated for speedy deletion? Seriously dick move. This is why people leave wikipedia.

Explain, if you will, how this meets speedy deletion:

  • An article about a real person, an organization (e.g. band, club, company, etc., except schools), or web content that does not indicate why its subject is important or significant. This is distinct from verifiability and reliability of sources, and is a lower standard than notability. This criterion applies only to articles about web content and to articles about people and organizations themselves, not to articles about their books, albums, software and so on. The criterion does not apply to any article that makes any credible claim of significance or importance even if the claim is not supported by a reliable source. If the claim's credibility is unclear, you can improve the article yourself, propose deletion, or list the article at articles for deletion.

Also explain why it is appropriate to tag articles as such immediately upon first edit. This is a flagrant abuse of these standards, and if I had not been someone who's been contributing to Wikipedia for three years, I would rightly think that Wikipedia was a very nasty place.

Sort it out. T L Miles (talk) 19:56, 27 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

The article does not seem to explain why the company is important. Just because it exists across the nation does not necessarily merit recognition. See WP:CORP and WP:NOTABILITY. ←Signed:→Mr. E. Sánchez Get to know me! / Talk to me!←at≈:→ 20:10, 27 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
Seriously, do YOU even know what you're talking about? "does not necessarily merit recognition". Point be at the standard in the Notability you think this violates. Even if you can find one that passes the laugh test, that is a nomination for deletion, Not speedy deletion.
That I'm even having this conversation is surreal. What, you watch new articles get logged and decide upon the first minute to speedy delete things? Speedy deletion is for topics which OBVIOUSLY should not be in the encyclopedia. Frankly, you should be apologizing as quickly and as fully as possible, and you should rethink you "contributions" to this project. Your talk page, filled with people saying "what the fuck are you doing?" should give any person pause. Seriously, drop it. T L Miles (talk) 20:25, 27 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
Your commentary on my contributions only disparage my contributions. If I make mistakes, that's another thing. You are being highly uncivil and are attacking all of my edits and contributions. Using such language is highly unorthodox, especially because you claim to be a highly experienced editor. Please discontinue using such language toward me. ←Signed:→Mr. E.
