I could be wrong but I seem to recollect seeing a TV documentary which described the aftermath of this sinking. My recollection is that one of the lifeboats of SS Benares was never rescued at all: instead the sailors on board sailed her all the way back to the UK and saved their passengers themselves through their own courage and initiative. Perhaps someone with more authorative knowledge can throw light on the accuracy or inaccuracy of this?Cleckheaton (talk) 11:20, 22 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
I have added some more names from the Aberdeen Press and Journal, seems some confusion caused by children on the CORB scheme and children of other passengers. MilborneOne (talk) 22:13, 12 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

The crew numbers in the info box seem a bit off where does 209 come from? 219 passengers to 209 crew seems a bit far fetched but I'm no expert and can't find it in the sources 67.172.149.45 (talk) 23:34, 8 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
