  • The second paragraph is full of details that really don't need to be in the lead. Definitely needs to be cut down on the intricate details that really should only be in the body of the article.

  • "in 1882, Onoko, an iron freighter, temporarily became the largest ship on the lakes." while interesting... I can't see how this helps our understanding of the ship built in 1907.... same for "Two years later, a steel package freighter, Susquehanna, became the largest vessel on the lakes." and "In 1895, the first 400 feet (121.9 m) freighter was constructed. The first 500 feet (152.4 m) freighters were built five years later."

  • What were her crew numbers when launched?

I don't think this is stated anywhere.

• Service history:
  • "She commended her maiden voyage on May 3, 1911" did you mean "She commenced her maiden voyage on May 3, 1911"?

  • "One of Emperor's deckhands was swept overboard in the storm." What was his fate?

• Final voyage:
  • "After unloading a cargo of coal in Thunder Bay"... can we have a date here to help ground the reader chronologically?
•  Done. I assume this happened on June 3.
• Aftermath:
  • "In order to deter potential looters, the body was later reportedly sunk end of the stern by Canadian divers" did you mean "In order to deter potential looters, the body was later reportedly sunk at the end of the stern by Canadian divers"?

• Emperor wreck:
  • I'm assuming the cargo is still around the wreck? Has it spilled or is it mostly in still intact cargo holds?

  • "Wreckage from the canaller Dunelm is located 100 yards (91.4 m) east of Emperor's bow, in about 60 feet (18.3 m). Dunelm ran aground on Canoe Rocks in December 1910, and was freed within a week.[64][70] The wreckage left at the site includes her anchors and chain, and the remains of one of her lifeboats." We can probably condense this down to "Wreckages from the canaller Dunelm who ran aground in 1910 but was freed lies 100 yards east of Emperor's bow." ... although I'm not sure it even needs to be mentioned at all here.
