Oops

edit

Heh, incase anyone is wondering about my odd edit summary for this edit, that should of course have been "port" name. Freudean slip, huh :) -- Finlay McWalter | Talk 17:06, 20 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Past Tense/Future Event?

edit

On October 27, 2007, he replaced Ali Larijani as chief nuclear negotiator of Iran.

I had to check my watch ;-) Why is this written in the past tense? To avoid editing in 7 days? gnomelock 18:02, 20 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Because the event, the replacement, happened in the past. I suppose we could say "since XXX he has been the YYY, replacing Ali Larijani", but we shouldn't say "he has replaced Ali Larijani..." as that latter form of words does indeed sound stale very soon. -- Finlay McWalter | Talk 00:08, 21 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
Oops, I didn't read the "27th" part of your question properly - I think that's a mistake (he was replaced on the 20th), something that the article appears to have been corrected to say. -- Finlay McWalter | Talk 00:09, 21 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Monologue

edit

Perhaps it should be added that he's been described as a monologue negotiator by UN diplomats? Jørgen88 19:36, 21 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Category:Iranian anti-communists

edit

I have reverted the addition of the above category to this article by User:Guto2003. There is no verifiable information mentioned in the article that anti-communism is an important part of the subject's political stance. Nsk92 (talk) 18:43, 12 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Bad wording in "living martyr"

edit

The wording in the lead seems to imply that "living martyr" is some title specific to Jalili when in reality it is just a word for جانباز which in Persian war veterans who have been injured are called AlexBobCharles (talk) 08:39, 14 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
