Merger proposal

edit

Howdy there. I would like to merge St. Kitts and Nevis Olympic Committee into this page. There are only two sentences which are both included. There is some information in the infobox as well, but I plan on including that and more into this article. This article is not very long, and it will fit nicely into it. Let me know if you have any issues with it. I do not see the other article ever being of substantial size. Kees08 (Talk) 21:26, 29 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

General

edit
  • All mentions of"100 m" and its variants need to be spelt as for example "100 metres" in the prose
  • You use Saint Kitts and Nevis and St. Kitts and Nevis throughout the article. Only one of these should be used for consistency where appropriate
  • All times set by the athletes such as "10.17" need to be changed to "10.17 seconds"

National Olympic Committee

edit
  • "St. Kitts and Nevis Olympic Committee (IOC code: SKN) is the National Olympic Committee (NOC) representing Saint Kitts and Nevis." - should be The St. Kitts and Nevis Olympic Committee (IOC code: SKN) is the National Olympic Committee (NOC) representing Saint Kitts and Nevis
  • "The executive board consists of the president, secretary general, vice president, assistant secretary general, and four members." -May I add what sort of members are they?

2000 Summer Olympics

edit
  • " He advanced to the finals in the 100 m sprint and placed seventh," - He advanced to the finals of the 100 metres sprint and placed seventh,

2004 Summer Olympics

edit
  • "He finished sixth in the 100 m with a time of 10.00." - Think that ten seconds would be better in this sentence

2008 Summer Olympics

edit
  • "Kim Collins competed in two events, was the sole athlete from Saint Kitts and Nevis to advance to the finals" - Kim Collins competed in two event, and was the only athlete from Saint Kitts and Nevis to advance to the finals
  • "Collins finished 6th place in the 200 m, finishing with a time of 20.59." - Collins finished in sixth place in the 200 metres, with a time of 20.59 seconds

2012 Summer Olympics

edit
  • "One athlete, sprinter Tameka Williams, admitted prior to competing that she took Blast Off Red," - This sentence should be reworded to One athlete, the sprinter Tameka Williams, admitted prior to competing in the London Games that she took Blast Off Red,

References

edit
  • Wikilink the publishers Sports Reference, The St. Kitts-Nevis Observer, The Telegraph, CNN and the BBC for consistency
edit
  • The external links section must be below the references section and need to have the two navboxes
    • Done I think? What did you mean, have the two navboxes? Kees08 (Talk)

This article is going to be put on hold until all of the above issues have been addressed. MWright96 (talk) 17:36, 23 October 2017 (UTC) @MWright96: I think I fixed everything, let me know if you notice anything else. Thanks! Kees08 (Talk) 05:19, 25 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

  • @Kees08: Looks all good. Can now promote to GA. Pleas note that I fixed some dab links in the flagbearers sub-section.

GA concerns

edit

I am concerned that this article no longer meets the good article criteria. Some of my concerns are listed below:

  • There is no information in the article about the 2024 Olympics
  • The lead is too short and does not summarise all major aspects of the article.

Is anyone willing to address these concerns, or should this go to WP:GAR? Z1720 (talk) 00:29, 28 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

I still have no idea why this is on my watchlist (and has been there for like... years) but I can probably take a stab at adding a few lines. Primefac (talk) 10:51, 28 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Done, though I'm not really sure how much extra needs to be added to the lead other than the new placement in swimming. Primefac (talk) 15:29, 28 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
