File:Salman Shah pic.jpg Nominated for speedy Deletion

edit
An image used in this article, File:Salman Shah pic.jpg, has been nominated for speedy deletion at Wikimedia Commons for the following reason: Copyright violations
What should I do?

Don't panic; deletions can take a little longer at Commons than they do on Wikipedia. This gives you an opportunity to contest the deletion (although please review Commons guidelines before doing so). The best way to contest this form of deletion is by posting on the image talk page.

  • If the image is non-free then you may need to upload it to Wikipedia (Commons does not allow fair use)
  • If the image isn't freely licensed and there is no fair use rationale then it cannot be uploaded or used.
  • If the image has already been deleted you may want to try Commons Undeletion Request

Ponyo - I don't understand what was wrong with the source I gave (here is another one stating the same thing). Quasar G. (talk) 22:43, 7 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hi Quasar G., the source was a celebrity database, which doesn't meet Wikipedia's reliable source criteria. It's no different than IMDb, which is also not a reliable source for the reasons outlined here, here and here. Blogs, such as the one you link to above, also do not meet reliable sourcing criteria (see WP:BLOGS). What is needed is an indepedent secondary source with a reputation for accuracy and fact checking.--Jezebel's Ponyobons mots 22:59, 7 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for clarifying that, Ponyo - I understand what you mean now. Quasar G. (talk) 23:04, 7 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
