I personally don't think we ought to make high school pages. I had to move this page because there are numerous East Highs in the country.

Because it's already made I intend to clean up this article by incorporating reasons it's notable. The school's gay/straight alliance is interesting because administrators banned all non-acedemic clubs for a time just to get rid of it. Also, East is among the oldest schools in Utah and undoubtably has many notable alumni.

I'm addressing this toward anyone considiering a VfD listing. Cool Hand Luke 06:47, 25 Sep 2004 (UTC)

West High

edit

I just made some revisions to the West High (my alma mater), mostly grammar and style. Thank you to whoever greatly expanded my entry, but there should be *two* spaces between sentences. Just trying to maintain West's reputation. I removed "students often tout the diversity as conductive to learning" because when's the last time you heard a high school student use the phrase "conductive to learning" under any circumstances? high school articles are worth keeping

edit

IMHO only, but I would think that high school articles are worth keeping:

  • Certainly a high school can have a few points of information that are of use to someone out there
  • It could be a great way to bring in young wikipaedians
  • why not? Isn't expansion of information what this place is all about?

I move the information on this page to: Notable schools of Salt Lake City. Then we can add whatever schools we desire, and not have a million articles... [[User:JonMoore|JON, Conqueror of Men - (Talk to Me, Baby!)]] 21:28, 23 Nov 2004 (UTC)

School closures

edit

Rosslyn Heights and Lowell elementary schools closed. I kept them in the list but added notes that they have closed down. I can't believe they closed Rosslyn Heights...it was a very good school...stupid Salt Lake School District...okay, I'm done ranting now...

Heh. West side myself. I remember some closed, but Google wasn't bringing it to me. Cool Hand Luke 06:04, 3 Dec 2004 (UTC)

SLC Punked

edit

One section of the page claim events in the film SLC Punk!, which was filmed at West, happened at South High. Another section said East High. SLC Punk's entry doesn't clear up the confusion, so I've removed both claims, but if anyone knows what went down, put it in! Inappropriatecontent 09:31, 30 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Well, I was at a few of those parties, and I went to East. So did Sean Fightmaster, so did the Urban Posers and the Potato Heads, and a few of the gang around Husker Du. East High was the center of 80s punk rock, period. Steve-O didn't go to school as far as I could tell, or was older (over 18) by the time most of it went down. Rector went to East (the Brit poseur with the Vespa). I should know, I own that Vespa now. It's East High. Davejenk1ns 16:30, 30 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
It allegedly happened at East, but the movie was filmed in relevant part at West High. The movie called it either North or South High (I don't remember which, but suspect they said "North" because such a school has never existed). I'll find a newspaper article about it when I have the time. Cool Hand Luke 17:31, 30 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

This has got to be the most poorly written wikipedia article I've ever seen. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 63.167.237.65 (talk) 01:06, 30 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Blogs reference dead links to notable news sites.

http://shadmia.com/2007/09/28/east-high-teens-accused-of-sex-crimes/ references http://kutv.com/archive/local_story_270095944.html

http://withleather.com/post.phtml?pk=3977 references http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/highschool/09/27/players.charged.ap/index.html I think the sports illustrated may store an archive of this story somewhere but they require money to look into.

Suggestions? Kelly Denham 18:45, 4 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
