When was this created?

edit

Yo. When exactly was Salvation Mountain made? —FrostyBeep 07:20, 17 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

The current Salvation Mountain is actually the second construction to occupy the site;[11] Knight began the first Salvation Mountain in 1984, using highly unstable construction methods that allowed the mountain to collapse. In 2002, the original Salvation Mountain was named a National Treasure. Peter K Burian (talk) 18:27, 10 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to one external link on Salvation Mountain. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}} after the link to keep me from modifying it. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}} to keep me off the page altogether. I made the following changes:

Question for administrator

edit

An anonymous user has added content about a person named Crystal Riddle in several sections. No citations. My google search reveals no such person.

I have deleted all reference to Crystal Riddle but if the User keeps adding it (without a citation to a solid source), this article would need some kind of protection. Peter K Burian (talk) 18:25, 10 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Peter K Burian: You have reverted the vandalism, and after that the next step is to warn the editor on their talk page, which I have done. (You could have done it.) Very likely that will be the end of it, but if the editor continues doing the same thing after suitable warnings, please ask again for help from an administrator. You can do that here, as you did this time, but reporting the matter at Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism might be better, and certainly you should go there if you find the same vandal is attacking more than one article. (Incidentally, if administrative action is needed, it will probably be blocking the IP address rather than article protection. Article protection is normally used only if there are numerous IPs involved in damaging the article, to minimise collateral damage to other editors' ability to edit.) Anonymous keeps adding info about a "Crystal Riddle"

edit

The Anonymous person again added content, to the Lead section: (I deleted it)

   Crystal riddle was only a teenager when she  begun her work with Leonard Knight. Crystal Riddle since got married and raised her daughter Brinelle Riddle-Anderson who is a Musician and a Artist. Brinelle is Currently in a University. Her father Daniel Anderson has passed away, which has made Crystal Riddle (Anderson) a young widow. Crystal Riddle can be found via Face book or InstaGram. to look Crystal Riddle Up you can locate her by Searching for “Melungeon Genetics”.|url=https://pqasb.pqarchiver.com/mydesert/doc/1151330448.html?FMT=ABS&FMTS=&type=current&date=Nov%2012,%202012&author=&pub=&edition=&startpage=&desc=%7Cnewspaper=The Desert Sun|date=November 12, 2012|location=Palm Springs, CA}}

I cannot find the article that is quoted: https://pqasb.pqarchiver.com/mydesert/doc/1151330448.html?FMT=ABS&FMTS=&type=current&date=Nov%2012,%202012&author=&pub=&edition=&startpage=&desc=

Wikipedia does NOT ask readers to search for people mentioned in the article: "Crystal Riddle can be found via Face book or InstaGram. to look Crystal Riddle Up you can locate her by Searching for “Melungeon Genetics”. She is not mentioned in this article: Melungeon DNA Project.

If Riddle had a role in creating the Mountain, great, we will include it in the article but not in the lead section. But we need a solid news article with a correct URL before we can even consider doing so. Anonymous should reply here, not continue to add content. Peter K Burian (talk) 22:37, 10 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

There are several people with that name on Facebook and I doubt that any of them confirm that she helped build the Mountain. https://www.facebook.com/search/top/?q=Crystal%20Riddle If she did so, why is she not mentioned in any news articles or books about it??Peter K Burian (talk) 22:39, 10 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

Vandalism is continuing re: Crystal Riddle

edit

63.140.26.209 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · filter log · WHOIS · RDNS · RBLs · http · block user · block log) This person has been warned (in the UNDO comments and perhaps by an Admin... see the Question for administrator thread) but manages to keep adding information about a "Crystal Riddle" person who cannot be confirmed by any reliable source ... some of the changes made by the User do not show up in History: I don't know how that is possible. For example, the Riddle name was added to the Lead photo; I just deleted that. I don't know how to warn an Anonymous user.

Failed Verification

edit

"Leonard Knight of Salvation Mountain fame dies at 82". Imperial Valley Press Online. This reference does not cite either the start date nor the date of collapse. 152.3.34.86 (talk) 20:45, 18 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

You're correct. Patterson's book Middle of Nowhere should cover it; I've requested it via interlibrary loan and will update the article after I verify the information. Schazjmd (talk) 21:26, 18 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
Never mind, Graywalls handled it. Schazjmd (talk) 23:16, 18 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
