Re: tag removal

edit

First off, the question of his notability was decisively settled in the AfD.

Secondly, while the article doesn't cite sources, source citation only applies in cases where the sources involve elements that might be disputed or challenged. The assertions in the article are almost completely athletic results both readily verifiable and a matter of public record. Ravenswing 05:29, 13 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

I restored the tag. You still have to provide sources - there are no exceptions for athletes whether or not their achievements are "a matter of public record". Notability is not enough for an article to stand on its own - all material in it must be attributable to reliable sources, otherwise this article may end up on AFD again. --Coredesat 10:54, 13 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
"Editors should provide attribution for quotations and for any material that is challenged or likely to be challenged." "Any edit lacking attribution may be removed, and the final burden of evidence lies with the editor wishing to add or retain the material. However, this policy should not be used to cause disruption by removing material for which reliable sources could easily or reasonably be found." (emphasis mine) You're not only being needlessly officious, you're ignoring these key clauses in WP:ATT. Now if there are any statements in the article you're actually challenging because you legitimately think they're shaky, let's hear it, but as a matter of course, we're not going to start sourcing every single stat and every single birthdate. I'm not asking to cite every single detail in the article. Just add some external links and it's fine. --Coredesat 19:11, 13 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
