A fact from Sam Darnold appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the Did you know column on 20 January 2017 (check views). The text of the entry was as follows:
Did you know... that quarterback Sam Darnold's high school footage submitted to college football coaches consisted of his basketball highlights?
Yup, GEQBUS (God Emperor QuarterBack of The United States) is a real nickname that I've seen used on reddit and twitter. Obviously being a social media app and a forum they are not reliable sources, so I'd have to go find a reputable secondary source to cite. Anyway, I'm unfamiliar with editing Wikipedia pages so I have no idea if a popular nickname for a sports player belongs on their pages but I'll go see if I can find some precedent for it. Well, the article for the list of NFL nicknames https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_NFL_nicknames lists GEQBUS as a nickname, and cites a source for it. Plenty of other athletes' article have their nickname somewhere so it might work in this one. I'm still unsure because this nickname is kind of niche and was seemingly created with the exclusive goal of mocking Donald Trump. As funny as that is, I'm not sure it's significant enough to be worth mentioning in this article. Jolebson (talk) 22:25, 26 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
