Basically, in the whole article, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is referred to as "SHIVAJI" only which is disrespectful and unacceptable. I'd request you to change this and add atleast "Chhatrapati" before "Shivaji". Also referring Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj as "Sambhaji" only isn't acceptable. The Maratha Empire was not just like any other Mughal Empire who looted, killed and raped the people of the Indian subcontinent. So, there should be some respect in the way articles are written about the great Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. Ishan waghmare (talk) 18:48, 17 December 2019 (UTC)

Comments on the article

Reading the article through, I find that it contains a lot of POV statements. Not being an expert on Maratha history myself, I haven't edited the article, but it would be nice if someone removed the POV references. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 123.201.37.65 (talk) 14:30, 29 June 2009 (UTC)

I request Wikipedia to make a root level research on the topic of Sambhaji Raje, there are many allegations which are not only false but also insulting the greatness of the worrier. Kindly consider reframing the article, based on true events.

Criticism

[1][2][3][4]

Whoever is behind defaming sambhaji maharaj should know he is trying to fool himself and making a wrong statement with proof that with some books should also know how much study sambhaji maharaj did and how many languages he knew and how many books he wrote at a tender age of 14. Who ever is defaming him should know he is culprit of himself and defaming his forefathers. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mayur Kulkarni 1 (talkcontribs) 03:19, 7 June 2017 (UTC)

Term "Holy sacrifice"

5 Holy sacrifice 6 Effect of Holy sacrifice

Isnt the term "holy sacrifice" too dramatic for an encycolpedic article? I think it should be replaced by death/ capture and death. Rakes 05:39, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

Sambhaji's Death

Aurangzeb was impressed by Sambhaji raje , who fought a 180 kg tiger with their open hands and killed it .Aurangzeb himself says "ya allah kuon paida nahi hua aisa bahadur hamara jannane me ". Aurangzeb wanted Sambhaji to change his religion to Muslim and became a sultanate of Delhi .But Sambhaji raje rejected his offer because Aurangzeb was rude person . Sambaji raje is among the most honest ,brave ,respectable king who won all wars without loosing a single battle ,with a very little army of marathas. Shikhare the brother of sambhaji's wife betrayed him along with group of brahmins for gaining treasure with no idea about future of kingdom. The succeeding generations of this brahmins became writer and wrote a false history regarding this lion king Sambhaji.Raje fought till their last breath.Be aware of the false historians who make stories for money .Sambhaji raje did their great work for us.Not all brahmins were bad but some of them.It is our duty to stand for truth and fight the evil minded psychopaths.jay Shivray.....Har..Har..Mahadev.

Use of title Chatrapati before name of Chatrapati Sambhaji and Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj

Chhapati Shivaji Maharaj and Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj are gods for us. We do not mention his name alone in Maharashtra. We do not allow him to do so.Therefore, in places where only Sambhaji is written, it should be Chhatrapati Sambhaji and in places where only Shivaji is written, it should be Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The Government of Maharashtra has also enacted such a law. Bherdeyugal (talk) 11:37, 14 May 2020 (UTC)

Sambhaji's Death

The article includes graphic details of Sambhaji's death, Should be removed. dhoom 19:19, 2 April 2006 (UTC)

Yes it makes the article more dramatic and more troublesome to read. However, the way Sambhaji was tortured to death was unparalled in the history of India. We cannot stand even a minor cut anywhere in our body.Inspite of being subjected to such inhuman torture,he did not give in his love for freedom and religion.Had he surrendered his kingdom in order to save his life and avoid cruel torture, perhaps nobody could have blamed him. However he did not do so.I would say that Hindu religion is still dominant in India and supreme sacrifice of Sambhaji Raje made a very important contribution to that.Aurangzeb was alive for another 18 years after the death of Sambhaji Raje.Had Maratha kingdom fallen, there would be no enemy left to Aurangzeb in the whole area to the south of Punjab and Rajasthan.Though the details of Sambhaji's death really make readers feel sad,I think they are important in as much as they prove beyond any shadow of doubt, Sambhaji's love for freedom and religion.Over the years, many historians portrayed him a negligent ruler and someone unworthy of being the son of great Chatrapati Shivaji Raje. However it is not true. The way Sambhaji faced death bravely symbolizes that.Still editors are at descrition to edit the article.

The picture given in the wikipedia is inappropriate. Chhatrapati sambhaji maharaj never sat like this with rose in his hand. He was always ready to fight for swarajya with sword in his hand. The picture shown matches with mongal and rajputs. So kindly request to make the correction in the picture — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2405:204:959F:6CC5:24D6:9361:FF65:AFED (talk) 13:19, 4 March 2020 (UTC)

Sambhaji's Capability

Chatrapati Sambhaji was a very capable leader. While Chatrapati Sambhaji's army was at maximum 60,000 and almost 10 times more was Aurangzeb's army. Still Chatrapati Sambhaji fought with moguls bravely and helped other two sultanates Kutubshaha of Goalkonda and Adilshaha of Vijapur. Till Sambhaji raje died moguls could hardly konquror any of his 350 forts even after wasting so much of money and army. But sambhaji raje was betrayed by many of his maratha/bramhin families like Shirke, Nimbalkar, Mahadik, deshpande, etc while common public was with Sambhaji Raje. Many of the Smbhaji raje's generals were from very poor famlies who were raied from ground zero in army like Mhaloji ghorpade, santaji ghorpade, Dhanji Jadhav, Hambirrao mohite, etc. One of the golden pages of his life was when he attacked Siddi's of Janjira, the fort which remained unkonqurred till the end.He made the plan to Konquror Janjira along with one of his loyal general called KondajiBaba Farzand. Kondajibaba fooled the Siddi's and shod them he has betrayed Sambhji raje and ready to join hand with Siddi. Since Siddi's were very afraid of Smabhaji raje, they treated kondajibaba as if one of them. Kondajibaba was suppose to revolt from inside the janjira and Sambhaji raje was to attack from outside. But this ambitious plan failed because of one mistress who was with kondajibaba. With that all the 80 loyal and brave maratha armymen wer captured and brutelly killed by siddis. after that Sambhaji raje tried to built the bridge between Janjira and the coast. He himself lead the attack and at the end Siddi's had given up but their fate was in their favor. When siddi's were reached to consensus for surrender , moguls invaded in the land marathas so he has to return from konkan to the ghat (top of sahyadri lands) so could not give the finishing touch. Similary he attacked on the Portugiz of Goa who always troubled the hindu citizens and tried to convert them to christen. That time viceroy of goa was Alver the Gont. He was armed with best of the artillary and army. But as sambhaji raje found it was not possible to defeat Portugiz by attacking Panjim fort, he tried to pull them out of Panjim by strategic planning and defeated them. After this battle portugiz were so frightened that they stopped helping moghuls. Once again luck was not in favor of Sambhaji raje, moghul prince Ajjam was climbing down the ghats of sahyadri so Sambahi raje has to return to raigad else there was a danger that he will be crushed with Portugiz and moghuls on eiether side.
