editIs there any reason why Jelly Baby is one of the "See Also" articles? Jaycia (talk) 16:36, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
I think that the Hindi script for the name should be put in as well. My name is Samir.
Bengali spelling
editOn the page, the Bengali spelling is given as সামির, which would be pronounced /sɑmir/ (transcribed in the International Phonetic Alphabet) according to Bengali language# Phonology. But according to the article on the Bengali writer Samir Roychoudhury, his first name is written সমীর /sɔmi:r/, with the initial syllable স /sɔ/, not সা /sɑ/ and a long vowel in the second syllable. The website India Child Names also has only সমীর (with /sɔ/).
It may well be relevant that in Hindi, which uses a very closely related alphabet, the spelling corresponding to the Bengali in the article would be pronounced as /sɑmi:r/, and the other spelling as /səmi:r/. This might have confused the person who added the Bengali form of the name to the article.
I am editing the article accordingly, but it would be best checked by someone familiar with Bengali. I have written it up at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Bangladesh#Correct Bengali spelling of name Samir?.
