Band name meaning in English
edit"Самоцветы" = "Gems", and I have no doubts about it. It's a common word, not a special term, with a shade of something old or fairy-tale'ish for the russian word. The "semiprecious stones" suggested in the article now could only be back-translated to "полудрагоценные камни" (special term). I know, such literal name translations for proper names are of low value. And yet let it be here. 5.137.229.81 (talk) 18:32, 11 September 2024 (UTC)
- The names are not translated. And even if they were translated, you still needed an official translation of the title with an authoritative source, because words can have different meanings and they are not always intuitive (in particular, jewelry terminology in English does not necessarily have the same logic as in Russian). For example, to be picky, a more correct translation would be “semiprecious stones”. Gems rather means "драгоценные камни" in general. But this is my original research.
