to be Merged with Mindfulness (Buddhism)
editI think this page should be merged with the Mindfulness (Buddhism) page, since they mean the exact same thing. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Makeswell (talk • contribs) 06:44, 24 March 2010 (UTC)
- They don't mean exactly the same thing. But they almost always occur together. I think the distinction is brought out well in Nyanatiloka's Buddhist Dictionary. Sati is awareness in the moment, and sampajañña is continuity of awareness (or continuity of purpose as it is sometimes called). This may not amount to enough of a distinction to keep separate articles, but the world "mindfulness" tends to hide a great deal of subtlety in the underlying terminology of Buddhism. mahaabaala (talk) 08:20, 7 March 2011 (UTC)
Sanskrit Spelling
editI changed the Sanskrit spelling after checking the Edgerton's Dictionary of Buddhist Hybrid Sanskrit, and Monier-Williams' Sanskrit-English Dictionary. It is samprajanya which is sampajañña in Pāli; the conjunct nya regularly devolving to the geminate ññā. mahaabaala (talk) 08:20, 7 March 2011 (UTC)
