editThis article seems less about the man himself and his life, and more about the history of his family. It has quite little in the way of encyclopaedic merit, in my opinion, in it's current state. Dave 08:36, 17 June 2006 (UTC)
No kidding. Furthermore, it takes the career of a rather illustrious and well-known (if controversial) British Admiral and sublimates it to his relatively brief involvement on the American Station. The fellow *did* have a long career, after all. Sigma-6 (talk) 23:05, 23 November 2008 (UTC)
This really needs to be filled out , properly referenced, and better balanced. Graves' greatest challenge was his role in the early years of the American revolution, which required a broader range of qualities than merely being a competent sea officer. He did not rise to the challenge, and was instrumental to the course of subsequent events - which were globally significant. As such this section does deserve special attention, but as presently written is not at all even handed. Sic Transit (talk) 03:10, 18 February 2009 (UTC)
