I'll get to this one shortly.--Sturmvogel 66 (talk) 01:57, 23 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

  • No DABs, external links OK.
  • Images appropriately licensed.
  • Nice selection of photos, but are any plans available for the original and current configurations?
  • And can you put a north arrow on the 1869 plan?
  • Was it manned at all during 1940?
  • Otherwise nicely done.--Sturmvogel 66 (talk) 19:15, 3 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
  • I'm absolutely convinced it was used by the Home Guard in 1940, but I can't find a reliable source to support my conviction...
I'd expect so as well. Perhaps one of those books that focuses on the British defences in 1940 would have something...
  • I'd prefer not to add one to the 1867 plan, as it is currently in its "original" condition; north is approximately "up" though on this one.
  • Then add the direction to the caption.
  • Unusually for these forts, I can't find a "reliable" (in the conventional sense) map of the original castle. Harris presents some diagrams, but he either then notes that they don't include current work (and so are inaccurate in places) or dates them as having been based on 1750s originals, with the usual caveats. I've seen diagrams of the 1970s' excavations, but I'm not at all confident that they then reflect the subsequent building work on the site to turn it into a dwelling, which hadn't yet occurred at the point they were made. • You've got great explanations of the layout and its changes, but I just have a hard time visualizing all that in my head without any diagrams. But even the 1970s excavations would be helpful if they differed from the 1867 diagram.--Sturmvogel 66 (talk) 22:25, 4 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
