Portuguese Fishing Schooner

edit

Currently, the Santa Maria Manuela's type is given, as a translation of the Portuguese lugre into English, as "lugger". However, in English, the term lugger describes a vessel with lug-rigged sails, where gaffs extend forward of the mast and the sails' luffs are loose. I recommend changing the type to 'schooner'. See the Classic Sailing webpage "Santa Maria Manuela - History of a deep sea fishing schooner" and the intheboatshed.net article "More on the last Portuguese fishing schooners".     ←   ZScarpia   12:20, 22 January 2020 (UTC)Reply
