Dab on Taizhou
editThere are two Taizhous in China (Taizhou, Jiangsu and Taizhou, Zhejiang). Can someone figure out which one it is and disambiguate it? --Nlu (talk) 17:12, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
Hmm..
editThis article was obviously (on second look, its not too obvious actually) edited by a non-native speaker of English. I'm too tired right now to fix the minor grammatical errors; hopefully someone else can..

No consensus to move. Vegaswikian (talk) 23:04, 25 August 2011 (UTC)
– Is Santos, São Paulo the primary topic for the term Santos? Muchness (talk) 21:04, 18 August 2011 (UTC)
- Comment - An editor has been cut-and-paste moving Santos, São Paulo to the base name Santos, so I'm opening this procedural request to gauge whether there's consensus for the move, and if so, to execute the move properly. --Muchness (talk) 21:04, 18 August 2011 (UTC),
- Oppose; between the surname and the many other uses of the word, I can't see the community being the primary topic. Powers T 01:42, 19 August 2011 (UTC)
- Strong support - If you were to take a look at the disambiguation page, you will see that there are only three cities named Santos. One, in Hungary, is safe to say that most people have never heard of. The other one, in the United States, changed its name long ago to Strathmore. By far the most famous of the three would be the Brazilian one, largely thanks to Santos Futebol Clube, considered the best football club of all times by many, and their golden team which had Pele in its ranks. Most of the football clubs on the football club section of the disambiguation page are named and created in homemage TO Santos FC. Besides that, there are only a few other subjects named Santos which doesn't call the attention that the Brazilian city or football club does. As for people's surnames that has Santos, there is already a separate page for it. Strawberry on Vanilla (talk) 20:15, 19 August 2011 (UTC)
- There's already a separate page for everything on the disambiguation page; why single out the surname? Powers T 13:10, 20 August 2011 (UTC)
- I think s/he meant a separate dismabiguation page. — AjaxSmack 22:14, 20 August 2011 (UTC)
- That doesn't really clear anything up. The surname could still be the primary topic. Powers T 02:34, 21 August 2011 (UTC)
- Well, with only two sentences of text, it's not a convincing one. — AjaxSmack 03:23, 21 August 2011 (UTC)

- Support. There are only five things called simply "Santos": the Brazilian city, a major Australian energy company (Santos (company)), a village of less than 600 people (Sántos), one person (Santos (artist)), and the surname (Santos (surname), an article with only two sentences of informative text). The city, with over a million people, is the primary topic. — AjaxSmack 22:14, 20 August 2011 (UTC)
- Oppose Santos FC is primary, 61295 page views in the last 30 days, compared to 5485 for the city. Kauffner (talk) 06:33, 21 August 2011 (UTC)
- Oppose per Kauffner's statistics, which show the city is not the primary topic. Jenks24 (talk) 12:28, 21 August 2011 (UTC)
- Oppose the city is not the primary topic as stated above. I would even dare say that the Santos (name) is more well known around the world, well at least in the US, than the city. Elockid (Talk) 19:59, 22 August 2011 (UTC)
- @ Elockid, Kauffner and Jenks24
- Your angle makes no sense whatsover. Barcelona, the football club, has 579826 views, which far outweights the 179854 views its city counterpart has. Should we redirect Barcelona to its football club? Because Barcelona directs towards it namesake's most popular city, not a non-geographical subject. The same goes for Munich, Sao Paulo, Lima, Medellin, Quito, Milan, Madrid, Manchester, Moscow, etc, etc.
- There are only two Santos articles about cities: one, which doesn't even have a population of over 9000 and another which has the largest port in Latin America, arguably the best football club of all times and the greatest player in the sport of football. Strawberry on Vanilla (talk) 20:11, 23 August 2011 (UTC)
- The cities you listed above are very well known cities around the world. Santos, Sao Paulo isn't as well known as the cities you've listed. The name Santos would fit better as a primary topic since it's much more well known than the city. This is my angle (basically the same point as LtPowers). Elockid (Talk) 21:02, 23 August 2011 (UTC)

- Oppose. Far too many usages are likely to be in readers' minds when they enter "Santos" for this to be a reasonable move. Status quo is fine. NoeticaTea? 06:38, 23 August 2011 (UTC)

Shouldn't the leaning towers be mentioned?
editI understand Santos has a lot of towers that are leaning to a dangerous amount. I think I have the right city. Will (Talk - contribs) 06:34, 21 April 2018 (UTC)
You're right. But they're not towers. They are apartment buildings. Bangloday (talk) 05:34, 23 July 2020 (UTC)
