I don't quit understand the reason for this page to be deleted. It is a about a historic building on a government register of historic sites. It is also about an organization that dates back to the very yearly days of the city and was recreated by an act of the provincial parliament.
At this point, I think this is going to be my very last post onto Wikipedia.
- If this building is on a historic register, it would be good to have it noted. Right now, it looks rather unremarkable, and other editors have agreed. Please substantiate the claim of historic significance, and it should be fine. I work mainly with tUS historic registers - my knowledge of the Canadian version is limited, but I should be able to help. I would suggest that this be taken to AfD if there is a concern about notability, rather than speedied. Acroterion (talk) 17:31, 15 June 2008 (UTC)
- I should have checked before saying that it is a historic building. It is not on the city register [1]. The club itself was created by an act of the provincial legislature in 1907. This is in contrast to any other "business" or "non-profit" entity that normally would not have special legal standing. It is an unusual step for a Canadian federal or provincial parliament to pass a special act creating an entity unless it is to play a strategic role in the community. An alternative would be to merge the content into the article on William Charles Sutherland, Central Business District, Saskatoon and Saskatoon.
- Descriptions of some of the speeches held at the club include [2]. It has played an important role as being a venue in the community for speeches of political, economic or business significance over it's hundred year history.--M@sk (talk) 21:23, 15 June 2008 (UTC)
