Redirect

edit

This page was a pale reflection of Shaper/Mechanist. Redirecting there. Alan De Smet 19:05, 26 Oct 2004 (UTC)

I removed the redirect and added a stub. I'll write a more complete article in the near future (assuming nobody beats me to it, of course). neckro 05:12, 12 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Influence on Adam Warren

edit

I'd like to add a reciprocal link between this page and either Adam Warren, Studio Proteus, or Dirty Pair pages, reflecting the obvious influence this novel had on Adam Warren's vision of the Dirty Pair universe. Any objections? --Sleet01 08:28, 16 August 2006 (UTC) Why make it reciprocal? Many writers have been influenced by Sterling. I'd put the link on Warren's end.Reply

Ideologies Section

edit

I added a section on Ideologies. I think Schismatrix is as much about ideologies as it is the main characters. Certainly it traces Abelard Lindsay's journey from Preservationist ideologue to pragmatic detentiste to post-humanist visionary. Many of the characters are can be taken as exemplars for different ideologies.

Pronunciation

edit

«At last I can formally tell a skeptical public that the title of SCHISMATRIX is pronounced "Skiz-mat'-rix." With a short a. Like "Schismatics," but with an R. Also, SCHISMATRIX is spelled without a "Z." I do hope this helps in future.» -- Bruce Sterling, Schismatics Plus, page viii.

N.B.: Sterling is an American, so he would pronounce "schism..." as starting with skɪm, not sɪzm. Email him if this seems doubtful. Sean M. Burke (talk) 12:51, 26 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Locations Section

edit

I added a section on locations within the Schismatrix universe. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 202.139.43.181 (talk) 04:02, 31 August 2009 (UTC) Just reread a bunch of schismatrix and checked my location listingsReply

Importance=low?

edit

Why is this classed as Importance=low? It was nominated for the nebula award for best novel. It's a seminal text in the genre of "posthuman" fiction, and a very notable work of science fiction. 202.139.43.181 (talk) 06:07, 1 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

You are right. I removed the low scale without replacement. And besides I repelaced class=stub with class=B, hope this fits. --Cubefox (talk) 14:54, 4 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
