Restructuring of Page

Hi! Mariavalderrama are proposing a restructure of this page as part of our final assignment for our course Violence in the Early Years. Our proposed structure is to organize this page around the following sections:

1. Introduction

2. History of CP in U.S. schools (New)

3. Current stance in public/private schools

4. Disparities of use of CP based on gender, race, etc. (Improved)

5. Controversy (Impacts, American opinion, etc.) (New)

Mariavalderrama, I've updated the history section and reformatted the introduction to remove redundant information. Once you add the sections on Disparities and Controversy (I made minor edits in my sandbox to these headers), I will do a final edit with some additional information I found. Question

The section entitled "Current stance in public/private schools" contains a good deal of information on the legal status of corporal punishment, including the years when various states banned the practice. There are some citations, but the information on many states is not cited to a specific source. This article [1] is cited as a source for the map at the top of the page, but it does not provide the same level of detail as the "Current stance in public/private schools" section. Does anyone know where the data in this section came from? Is it verifiable? SunCrow (talk) 10:18, 19 January 2020 (UTC)

Idaho bans school CP

On Thursday, Idaho governor Brad Little signed a bill that banned corporal punishment in public schools in the state.

Map needs to be updated

Map should be updated to reflect changes of the legality of coporal punishment, for example Idaho should be shown as Red. Also, why not a third color for states where it's legal but there are exceptions? Or vice-versa with a fourth color? — I'ma editor2022 ^{(🗣️💬 |📖📚)} 22:22, 8 September 2023 (UTC)
