What's the deal with all the religious fundamentalist and pseudoscience (especially people selling snake oil cure-alls) advertising on this channel? Isn't that sort of contrary to the channel's theme and purpose? It wouldn't strike me as odd if it weren't for the fact that the Science Channel is the only channel out of the many I watch in which I've seen these commercials (except, of course, infomercials on every channel). --I am not good at running 23:37, 2 September 2005 (UTC)

That's probably because this whole "Science" TV thing is largely pseudo-scientific talking rubbish like "millions of years of evolution" and so on Top Cat 20:51, 25 January 2007 (UTC)

Probably because its the only advertisements they could get, as it is a low paying slot. Bkkeim2000 (talk) 03:28, 7 July 2008 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:SCIENCE CHANNEL.png

Image:SCIENCE CHANNEL.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Show > Humanology

There is no page dedicated to this show. I wanted info on that Brazilian guy who can withstand high voltage running through his body. Also a woman, who like me, can't wear watches because she interferes with electronic devices. She could generate current on an oscilliscope while watching video of the Brazilian man. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 156.34.173.171 (talk) 23:20, 1 November 2010 (UTC)

The image File:Discovery Sci-Trek.svg is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
  • That this article is linked to from the image description page.

File:Discovery Science.jpg Nominated for speedy Deletion

An image used in this article, File:Discovery Science.jpg, has been nominated for speedy deletion for the following reason: All Wikipedia files with unknown copyright status

What should I do?

Don't panic; you should have time to contest the deletion (although please review deletion guidelines before doing so). The best way to contest this form of deletion is by posting on the image talk page.

  • If the image is non-free then you may need to provide a fair use rationale
  • If the image isn't freely licensed and there is no fair use rationale, then it cannot be uploaded or used.
  • If the image has already been deleted you may want to try Deletion Review
