Dashes
edit"The book has five versions of the wedding ceremony: traditional, Informal, Single Ring, Double Ring, and Concise Double Ring. In the 1950s, L. Ron Hubbard wrote wedding vows that stress the mutual needs of the couple, now referred to as Scientology’s "traditional ceremony." They include such quaint advice to the groom as "Now -----, girls need clothes and food and tender happiness and frills, a pan, a comb, perhaps a cat. All caprice if you will, but still they need them," and to the bride: "Hear well, sweet -----, for promise binds. Young men are free and may forget. Remind him that you may have necessities and follies, too." What's with the dashes? kaiti-sicle 07:00, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
- It's short for Insert Name Here, I think. AndroidCat 12:46, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
A wedding is a ceremony to make two people family partners. The CoS's position on gay marriage has nothing to do with wedding ceremonies at all. Please start a new article on Scientology marriage and/or Scientology families so you can talk about the church's policies about gay marriage there. Thanks. Steve Dufour 05:10, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
- Are you just bored or what? Trying to keep information you don't like out of this article by making a bullshit distinction between the word "wedding" and the word "marriage" is not only silly, it's downright desperate. wikipediatrix 13:59, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
- It's the dictionary that makes a distinction between the words "wedding" and "marriage". :-) Steve Dufour 14:02, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
- Weddings are what you DO when you get married - duh! - so it really is the mother of all no-brainers that they can be discussed in the same article. Looks like you flunk Hubbard's "Learning how to learn" and "How to use a dictionary". wikipediatrix 14:30, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

- A great deal of information could be put in an article on human family relationships. It seems to me however that an article on "Weddings" should only talk about the wedding ceremony itself. (p.s. I have no idea how Hubbard used his dictionary.) Steve Dufour 15:05, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
Article on Scientology and marriage
editI guess I will go ahead and start this since no one else seems to be doing it. Steve Dufour 14:14, 2 August 2007 (UTC)
- We don't need a separate article for weddings and one for marriages, that's ridiculous. I thought we decided we were simply going to rename this article. wikipediatrix 14:20, 2 August 2007 (UTC)
- I don't know how to rename articles. If you do please go ahead. Thanks. Steve Dufour 14:27, 2 August 2007 (UTC)
Requested move
editAs wikipediatrix and I were discussing, this article covers more than just wedding ceremonies. It should be renamed to cover the general topic of marriage, including weddings. Thanks. Steve Dufour 13:32, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
- Tell me what title would please you, since you're the only one making a fuss about the distinction between 'wedding' and 'marriage' ;) wikipediatrix 14:25, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
- I am suggesting Scientology and marriage. Like I said, I need help moving the article since I have never done that. Steve Dufour 15:17, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
- He's not the only one; the difference is real and matters. Does Wikipediatrix agree to Scientology and marriage? Skittle 16:50, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
- I will go ahead and move the article then. Steve Dufour 13:22, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
