RS finally announcing this as having happened?

edit

ESPN is now reporting Servais' firing using past-tense [1]. --Pinchme123 (talk) 21:25, 22 August 2024 (UTC)? USA Today also reports it as having already happened [2]. --Pinchme123 (talk) 21:27, 22 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

a source confirmed to ESPN amid multiple reports is not sufficient. – Muboshgu (talk) 21:37, 22 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Also a high-ranking Mariners official told USA TODAY Sports. The official spoke only on the condition of anonymity since the Mariners have yet to make the official announcement. – Muboshgu (talk) 21:38, 22 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
My reservations are why I posted these links here rather than finally moving forward with the edit. I will however point out that what's more relevant here is that the reliable sources - ESPN and USA Today - have put the confirmation in their own voice. They evaluated the primary sources they had available to them and made the determination. That's the gold standard for sourcing on Wikipedia: reliable secondary sources. So no I don't think it's so simple as us Wikipedians deciding that the secondary sources are wrong (aka "not sufficient" as a response to a secondary source withholding where their primary sourcing comes from). --Pinchme123 (talk) 21:48, 22 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Now it is official: https://apnews.com/article/mariners-servais-fired-6f44e8e1a9cf04f8515918f594279353 https://x.com/MLB/status/1826746691695108120 – Muboshgu (talk) 22:31, 22 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
It was official when reliable secondary sources reported it as official. --Pinchme123 (talk) 00:51, 23 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
... which is what I was pointing out they had just done. Your comment and snarky edit summary baffle me. – Muboshgu (talk) 01:32, 23 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
