Friends of Scouting
editWhy is is so important to include the Friends of Scouting fundraising material? It is clearly promotional, and I can't see any justification for including that info in an encyclopedia article specific to Scouting in Utah. -- 208.81.184.4 (talk) 16:07, 12 October 2011 (UTC)
- To whoever kept putting the friends of scouting information in the article, I added the following links to the External Links section:
- Davidson, Lee (11 November 2007), "Scouts may be thrifty, but some leaders are well paid", Deseret News
- Davidson, Lee (6 August 2011), "Utah Boy Scouts fundraiser kicks off — with high-pressure tactics", The Salt Lake Tribune
- "Q-and-A with Boy Scout councils", The Salt Lake Tribune, 6 August 2011
- Davidson, Lee (21 September 2011), "LDS leader dismissed after criticizing Friends of Scouting", The Salt Lake Tribune
- These are suitably formatted for references to matching text, but you'll have to write that if you want it, as I'm not interested in doing that, and the last few attempts were not that good. Hopefully you'll see this as fair and even handed. Perhaps we could first vet the text that you want to add here at this talk page, to avoid the add/revert cycle that was happening previously. -- 208.81.184.4 (talk) 19:26, 12 October 2011 (UTC)
Thank you -- I guess I don't understand the editing of WikiPedia yet. I assumed the removals was from someone at the Scout Council level that would rather not see the funding purposes disclosed. Actually, I don't know how to tell who is actually monitoring the pages to meet WikiPedia standards, and who just changes material because they don't like it. I'll learn. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.52.47.243 (talk) 02:14, 13 October 2011 (UTC)
I removed this section as it is on the Great Salt Lake Council page where it belongs. - CentervilleDad (talk) 19:29, 26 August 2016 (UTC)
