Webster defines it as "nervous hysteria", and many think that the use comes as a nickname for the German rocket propelled munitions of WWII. . . and perhaps the anxiety instilled by the same. . .Reply

The "citation needed" for dysentery may not be forth coming. . . as it is, indeed, rare old slang, and I have heard it myself in reference to "diarrhea" quite some years back. . .
