Talk:Sean Casey (baseball)

|* I would just like to point out that statistically, 1999 was his best year in which he hit for .332, and I believe he had similar home run and rbi numbers. Also, his OBP. and Slugging Percentage were notably higher.

Red Sox signing

edit

Casey is not a member of the Red Sox until his deal is finalized (passes physical). Please do not change his status until then. He has not signed a deal.JustSomeRandomGuy32 (talk) 00:15, 2 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

The Mayor

edit

Sports commentators in Detroit repeatedly referred to Casey as "The Mayor" while he was in Detroit. As a Tigers season ticket holder, I saw firsthand his amiable treatment of runners on first. The nickname was even placed on the Comerica Park scoreboard when he came to bat. Casey was not in Pittsburgh long enough to develop much of a following, while in Cincinnati and Detroit, he was. I have reverted the previous edit to place this information back in the article. Mdb1370 (talk) 00:16, 27 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Irish-American baseball hall of fame at Foley's revert

edit

This 'event', Inducted into the Irish-American baseball hall of fame at Foley's in New York on August 26th 2008, did actually happen, see [1], does anyone think this edit is worth keeping in the article?--Captain-tucker (talk) 09:20, 29 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Indy

edit

How does Sean Casey fall within the Indianapolis project's scope? I read the article and could not find any mention of Indianapolis. He was born in NJ, so that's not it. He could live there or something; I just think, if it is related, it should be shown. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 199.8.26.10 (talk) 16:20, 8 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

The reason he would fall into the Indianapolis category was that Indianapolis was the location of the Reds AAA franchise at the time he was traded to the Reds. He either was in the minor leagues at the time of the trade, or had been demoted there at some point in his first season in Cincinnati. Quantumfootball (talk) 05:14, 13 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Funny Moment

edit

During a game with the Tigers, Casey avoided a close in pitch and didn't realize the ball had hit his bat and gone into left field. The left fielder threw him out before he could reach first base. He was never known for his speed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.70.180.180 (talk) 16:26, 2 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
