Krelj did not use the signs č,š,ž but wrote in bohoričica which did not yet include these signs and used digraphs č=zh, š=ſh, ž=sh instead for their respective phonemes. Č,š,ž were introduced in the slovene language from czech via serbo-croatian (gajica) only in the second half of the 19th cent.
