Talk:Second Battle of Memphis

Latest comment: 6 years ago by InternetArchiveBot in topic External links modified

The writer confuses General Nathan Bedford Forrest, who led the raid on the Irving Block Prison, with his brother Captain William Forrest, who as an escort on that raid rode his horse into the lobby of the prestigious Gayoso House Hotel to arrest Union General Washburn, who escaped as described. I lack the resources at present to fix this entry, so I invite someone to fix it up. This article facilitated the common confusion by citing only the Forrest surname. This error was then propagated to History_of_Memphis,_Tennessee#Civil_War, which I have remedied. See [1]. Ray921 (talk) 04:30, 19 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
